Just confirming a few things

Post by oneWonders » Thu Nov 26, 2015 3:02 am

Hi, i've been searching to put cfw on my psp 3000 - i already did it on my 1000 a while ago and from what i remember it seems a bit different for the 3000 so i have some questions from my research.

My psp 3000 is currently on 5.50 OFW.
Judging from the table in this link, would i be correct in assuming that it is able to use the permanent patch, as the ones that can't would be above 5.50 FW ?
https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/PSP/Models

So all the links to OFW 6.20 i have found on most sites seem dead, though i found one on media fire in another topic - hope it's genuine - anyone got a crc? viewtopic.php?p=306752#p306752

From what i understand, the benefits of 6.20 for my psp are you can have the permanent patch.
Then there is 6.60 or 6.61 which is needed for only a few games according to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStati ... m_software

I don't understand what is special about CFW 6.39 ? if you can't use the permanent patch on it then why not use 6.60 or 6.61? Or what are the benefits?

So i'm guessing for a first try, 6.20 lme with perm patch is best. I heard it might have some problems loading certain things but i didn't really understand. Maybe it was loading ps1 games?

And lastly, what is the difference between the normal ME OFW version and the other version?
I know this only applies to older psps like my psp 1000 but i still wonder.
For example:
release_620me2.3 (OFW Version).zip
vs

release_620me2.3.zip

Is the OFW version for installing on original fw and the other version for installing on CFW? and if so why do they need to be different? :s

Thanks!

6.20 plays every game afaik. I've played the games mentioned in the wiki for higher fw on this. Don't worry about 6.39 or higher firmwares (at least till davee's infinity cfw is released)
And you can't use ME cfw. You will have to use LME with perma patch on your psp 3000. So far, I have not had problems loading any game, psp or psx. I use popsloader (upto pops 660) on my 6.20 LME for games that have compatibility issues.

Ok i just put on 6.20 for now thanks.
Running the launcher actually takes less time that i thought so i might just leave it without permanent patch for now, just in case mine can't run it.

I had OFW 5.50 on there so i assume i can but better safe than sorry.

If i ever want to upgrade to 6.60, do i need to run the LME installer and tell it to uninstall / remove and then install the OFW 6.60 then the LME 2.3 6.60?
Or can i just install OFW 6.60 on top of what i have and then run the LME 2.3 6.60?

Thanks!

You can run the perma patch on your PSP.
You don't need to uninstall it when upgrading. You'll have to reinstall LME for 6.60 though.
