Currently 6.60 PRO B-10. Upgrade/update to 6.60 PRO-Cfix3??

Hello,

I currently have 6.60 PRO-B-10 running on my japanese PSP-3000. I didn't install the CiPL because I do not mind having to hit "Recovery."

I noticed that there is a new PRO version called PRO-Cfix3 (or later if any newer versions surfaced) for 6.60.

I have a screenshot, umd_dump and a cxmb plugin installed on my psp and like 5 ISO games so far.

If I decided to "upgrade" to PRO-Cfix3, I have two questions:

1) Will I somehow mess up what's currently on my PSP if I do so? And if not,

2) How do I upgrade from PRO-B10 to PRO-Cfix3 (or whatever the latest and the greatest PRO version is)??

Please help and thanks!!!

When I install a new PRO CFW update, I usually un-install the previous one (with the updater that I updated from) and then update with the new updater. Also, CIPL is NOT for PSP-3000's. CIPL will brick your PSP-3000 so don't run it at all.

Also, disable all of your plug-ins before you run the new updater.

You can run the PRO UPDATE for PRO-Cf3 while in OFW (there's no real need to uninstall the previous but it's fine if you do) and what ever you do, DO NOT run the cIPL flasher on a PSP 3000, IT WILL BRICK your PSP.

I feel sad when I read such posts over and over again. Really, what makes you think that devs are stupid and didn't put a prevention? :|

"what makes you think that devs are stupid" your thoughts and words, not mine. As for a prevention, I assume they have but I don't have a 3000 so I don't know if they have or have not and I don't even want to try it. It was just some friendly advice, so chill out...

Well I think it's quite obvious that there is a motherboard check in CIPL Flasher. Otherwise we'd see tons of bricks lol  80% of people launch CIPL flasher just from interest and not knowing, and as you see, everything is fine
it's like installing 6.60 PRO-B10 on a 6.35. Lol
Casavult wrote:It was just some friendly advice, so chill out...
it is inappropriate for an advice. there are other ways to tell user what things are right without shouting "THIS WILL BRICK YOUR PSP", which is false and sounds scary, isn't it
And mostly my reply was related to D1, which I didn't like for being red :(

Well I've never been dumb enough to attempt cIPL flashing on either of my PSP 3001's so I wasn't certain that there's a motherboard check on them... It was only a few days ago that cIPL flashing actually bricked a PSP 2000 was it not? :|

So why not er' on the side of caution for people new to the scene? Why not let them know that cIPL is only for hackable PSPs? Where's the harm in that? As for the text being red, it's just silly that you're so upset over that... It did have the effect I wanted it to, which was to make it stand out so it was read. ;)

Thank you MrShyCity, as well as everyone else for their replies and being so helpful every time I have a "noob"/newbie question about CFW etc. I only got a PSP in 2008 and always saw people playing SNES NES etc etc GBA games on their PSPs, saying hacking/modding was easy. I never tried CFW because I was afraid of doing something wrong and ruining my PSP. Disturbed0ne was the one who inspired me to take a chance and I'm glad I did.

Thanks everyone for helping out. I'll have more questions and posts later :)

I think I will wait until something like PRO-C2 etc gets released before I update. I personally prefer not having to see the word "fix" in my (L)CFW version :P
