lolz we sorta derailed the thread

any who yes plugins work and with 6.60 you have netive PSN support
(on 6.20 some people have reported not being able to download stuff from the store)
(you can still play online tho)

Disturbed0ne wrote:I think the names that the creators of each respective (L)CFW gave them are perfectly acceptable.

its not the names of the firmware's them selfs but the standard name as to we refer them by (CFW,L/CFW,HEN)
I just think L/CFW needs to be changes to something more appropriate

PRO has better backup compatibility. ME has support for archaic 1.50 homebrews.
From what I got from the changelog, they've fixes the cIPL issues now too.
fate6 wrote:well its designed more toward the 1k & early 2ks while IMO PRO is really more for the newer PSP's (especially with the online)
Pro online on the 1k isn't completely impossible. Also, ME was made to have leda (archaic homebrew) support, not just for the older PSPs. Pro was made as a general-purpose CFW.
fate6 wrote:PRO = HEN
ME = CFW
HEN = does not install to flash, gives (limited?) homebrew/pluging/(ISO?) compatibility, not permanent. Example: ChickHEN (5.03)
LCFW = installs to flash, gives homebrew/plugin/ISO compatibility, not permanent. Example: LME (6.60)
CFW = installs to flash, gives homebrew/plugin/ISO compatibility, permanent. Example: M33 (5.00)
fate6 wrote:you are right LME would also count as a HEN in my book

perma patch is just a auto booting HEN ;)
and as for CIPL... well I would say thats a CFW but.... hmm >___<
(we really need to start some sort of standardisation)

Perma patch = auto boot by swapping a prx file in the firmware
cIPL = auto boot by installing some custom IPL code
Umm, difference please? And standards? Not a chance you are going to get your standards accepted by everyone, so just go with whatever things are called.

// On-topic: those are bug fixes.

Following history, since the 2.71 HEN and others flashed then the only difference between HEN and LCFW is that an LCFW adds ISO loader and plugins. As for CFW, well, it's generally defined as something with a permanent patch. There is no distinction between a custom ipl and vshmain hack (other than technologically). This is following history, since the first CFW PoC used a vshmain hack, as did 2.71 SE upto 3.52 M33.

Those were different times and things are more complicated now so we need more complicated answers, i assume. If you were to ask me though, everything is a HEN unless it boots up on boottime; then it is a CFW.

Totally agree with you:

TN HEN -> HEN which is in the RAM of the PSP -> RAM HEN
PRO "LCFW", LME "LCFW" -> HEN which is in the flash0 of the PSP -> Flash0 HEN
PRO CFW + cIPL, ME CFW, M33 CFW -> cIPL makes it for me a full CFW -> CFW
Perma patched TN HEN / PRO "LCFW" -> Autobooting HEN -> Autoboot (RAM/Flash0) HEN

Btw in german its "TCFW" instead of "LCFW", the T is for temporary ^^

Edit: I do also agree with davees statement!

i totally support this statement. its simple, yet kind of true. it shouldnt matter whether its cipl or vshmain hack, cuz in the end, they both accomplish the same goal what many users want and thats turning on your psp into "custom mod" without touching anything else, but the power switch. it gives us with unhackable psp's some hope and the whole experience feels so much cooler 8-)

Thanks for your help guys, I got 6.60 PRO C running on my PSP now. I've already installed PSPLink / savegame-deemer and found myself a savegame vulnerability for a certain Mini on the PS Store =P This should keep me busy for a while. Thanks!
