finally getting E3, any warnings/tips/good mod ideas?

After a year of laziness, I remain sitting but got around to ordering a flasher. The internet is full of tuts on downgrading and installing so feel pretty confident its doable. Anyway, anyone got any tips or warning before I take apart my ps3? Or something cool I should do while I'm in there? I remember reading some advice about adding a fan or something.
