Orignal ps3 20gb on 4.55 hackable?

I have found some confliciting information on this topic, can you put cfw on a 20gb running ofw 4.55? I have no experience on ps3 hacking etc so all information is appreciated.

Sure but it will need to be downgraded to 3.55 then you can install a 4.55 CFW from there

Any chance you could downgrade it without having to install a modchip? (or anything like that)

Yeah. Get a or take it to, a place that "fixes" consoles. They usually have the E3 Flashing kit, Progskeet, and all that other fancy stuff.
