Newbie question: PSN Games and CFW

Post by pancakes4ever » Tue Oct 22, 2013 2:41 am

Hi Everyone!
So I just got my hands on a second ps3, which I intend to use for cfw, and am patiently awaiting the arrival of a new hd to replace the tiny 40gig.
In the meantime, I started reading up on how to go about jail breaking it. Since I am a newbie, I sadly feel like a question like this is inevitable...

When I do finally get around to exploiting my designated cfw machine, how do I somewhat safely go about transferring my legitimately bought games from psn onto it?

Is there a way I could transfer the games from one ps3 to another? Or perhaps from psn to pc to exploited ps3?

OR would I need to update the new(ish) ps3 to the newest firmware first then download the games to it via psn and then finally exploit it?

Or am I just a fool and its not possible atm?
Anyway, thanks for your time.

The thing to note here, is that CFW is likely only on their older 40gb model however, as if the newer PS3 is anything later than a CECH2500 (0D datacode) it won't be possible to run CFW.
Plus, if this 40gb model is currently on anything past 3.55, it will require a hardware flasher to be installed first.

That makes sense. I have the CECHg so I think I should be okay but I am running on 4.46. Judging by the lengthy tutorial I found on downgrading, I've got an exciting couple of days ahead of me. Hopefully, I can get it done before the next psn update and don't brick my ps3. Not really sure about you guys but I don't think I need a less aerodynamic soccer ball. Nonetheless, I'm a little psyched for the teardown.

psn should work for all cfw as-long as you spoof the right keys,
just restart the system after any home brew and enable the internet connection in network settings and log in, it works fine after that as long as you have the current psn store app ver, otherwise let psn store update normally, and it will work
remember to turn off internet connection any time you want to use any non-sony software, and to clear the software logs(restart the system) before ever getting on psn, its a simple thing to do,but bans are permanent for the system and your account

i use rebug, runs great
and eating thrifty maid noodles because of it......seriously!?! off brand noodles.....ouch i got burned by tech support.....ouch........
