Data Backup and Internal HDD replacement

I have a 2500 ps3 running Rebug 4.41.3 lite edition. Have a 500 GB external hdd and a internal 500 hd.

I have a paranoia about hdds failing (which is only a matter of time) and I would like to know if there is a way to backup my trophies and savedata, in case my internal hdd fails.

Also, I would like to replace my internal hdd for a larger one (1 TB). Is the ps3 compatible? And if it is, is there a way to live migrate my installed psn games, users, saves and trophies to the new hdd without havng to resign anything? Thanks in advance.

Well, I've read around the internet that the PS3 has a built-in backup and retore utility. But I also read that it doens't backup my trophies and some game saves. Is that a way to do so? Thanks.

For trophies and save data, sync the trophies on psn and backup save data to usb. Or if you have ps plus, use the 2gb cloud storage.

I would back up that to the external hdd if you want to ensure nothing will get deleted.

I see. the thing is I was banned from PSN for running multiman without disconeccting. Is there a way to ocally backup them? Also, any hints on 1TB model that does work on ps3? Thanks in advance.

I believe Western Digital HDDs work in ps3.
Locally just backup saves to USB or I think they also transfer if you do a full backup to the external drive

But will it also locally backup my trophies or just saves and psn games?

As far as I'm aware, there's no way to back up trophies without syncing them to psn. I had a similar issue when wanting to restore my trophies after switching PSV memory cards as I forgot to sync them.. I then ended up having to earn them all over again!
