If your PS3 a 3K or 4K model, it cannot be downgraded. Check on the back of your Slim for the model #.

Does that count for CECHM, 03, FAT aswell?
since i take that's pretty much equal to a 3k model unless i'm mistaken

any ps3 with the release date of 2010 or lower can be downgraded. you need to know if you have a nand or nor chip so you can buy the correct flasher. ( all slims have a nor chip and fat ps3s with cechh and up have a nor chip so e3 flasher will work and the other fats you need progskeet) i use e3 flasher to downgrade ps3s.
so again no 3k or 4k series can be downgraded, you'll need to buy the cobra ode to be able to play backups (well at least that's what cobra team says)

If you have a Super Slim, it can't be done either.

Use MinVerChk.PUP to check your base firmware. Your Base Firmware is the lowest firmware you can downgrade too
So if its 3.55 exactly, your good!
If its 3.56, then you still can, but it requires you to still have your flasher

Another above that will result in just no use at all
