NON-VAIO remote play help

Post by lnmiii » Mon Oct 25, 2010 9:18 am

ill give what help i can, but from there i am stuck as well

EDIT* make sure you have visual c++ 2008 (NON-SP1) installed on your computer, it is a free download, prior to running the following steps, if you run these steps before installing visual c++ you will get an error when trying to start the VRP

first off start cmd.exe (as admin, by right clicking the program and choose "run as administrator")

next type cd %programfiles%\sony\remote play with playstation 3
press enter
next type regsvr32 vrpsdk.dll
*if it worked right you will see a message saying so, if not it will say 0x80070005, make sure you ran cmd.exe AS ADMINISTRATOR

next type regsvr32 vrpmapping.dll
*if it didnt work the previous time dont expect it to, re-run as administrator and start from the beginning

why am i making so much noise about this? because that is where i scr..ed up on mine

next replace the files from the patch zip into the c:\program files\sony\remote play with playstation 3\ folder (choose to copy over)

next run vrp.exe *the original was replaced and renamed to vrpui.exe

go next until it asks for an 8 digit number, input the number your PS3 displays after choosing to pair computer in remote play settings and enjoy????!?!?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that is as far as i can get, i am wondering why, no one has correctly answered this question on other boards i looked at...
many people have asked though...
after it starts checking for the PS3 it crashes on some computers (including mine) stating an unknown error and will shut down

if someone can answer this question definitively i know it would help others besides my self.... i have seen this question on various homepages with no answers

EDIT* even with installing visual c++ it still gives me the same error message...
