step seven looks like it freezes when you click yes but just give it about 2 min and it will change to a completion screen(the only reason i know something was happening was because my usb drive only flashes as its being accessed)
I've never had an apparent freeze myself. Maybe cause of your ProDuo MS. *shrugs*
jd20dog wrote:im still not sure on the rebug mode on/off thing though, like when/ how am i supposed the turn it on and off, so please expand on the process of this
Rebug Selector. That's what the process of running it does. Rebug Mode vs Normal Mode. You can tell you're in Rebug Mode by either running the Rebug Selector, or by simply checking your system version (it'll be spoofed while in Rebug Mode.)
Pretty much, unless you wan to install a newer Rebug Update, install an alternate spoof, or Install another OFW/CFW/MFW, you'll never need to swap back to Normal Mode.
jd20dog wrote:i would also like a guide on installing other os, like Ubuntu if someone would be so kind as to make one
I'll check into that.
jd20dog wrote:ps: psp pro duo works for the cecha01 as a flash drive too(load light helps know somethings happening) also i didn't expect the boot screen to have REBUG instead of the PS3 logo after step five's reboot, kind of cool aesthetic change
Any kind of storage device the PS3 supports is fine, I wrote USB Flash Drive by reflex (since few models have those MS ports, you lucky one with a CECHA.) I'll update the guide with that clarification.
And yes, Rebug Custom Coldboot, cool isn't it? ^_^
jd20dog wrote:also has any one else noticed the ps3 runs warmer on 3.55(115F) and compared to 3.15(101F)? or is this just my paranoia acting up on me?
Its normal, due to the bypassing of hypervisor default coding. And CECHA's are notorious for heat issues even without CFW anyways.

Also updated the main post with more details on the Rebug Privacy Patch and a what is CFW part, and various detail clarifications.

Cool, my bro has a CECHK01 model. I've been talking to him about hacking his PS3. Thanks for the guide. I'll make good use of it.

Ahs, my apologies. I forgot that step. Updating guide now.
(While it opens them via the HDD option, those 3 package files are actually stored on the PS3 Flash.)

According to your information, I have a 2k slim... CECH-20XXX
I am also on OFW 4.11
How do you use Progskeet or any of the others to downgrade?
Do I need Venix Downgrader?

So i have a firmware of 4.20. Min ver check says my minimum ver is 3.50. Mobo is also CECHA 25XX. Can I still use teensy++ 2.0 to get this done?

Ok, I've been abit slack on this as of late, but hopefully I'll be back on track now.

I've updated the main page to have links on flasher tutorials.
silverh@mmer wrote:Do I need Venix Downgrader?
Venix downgrader is a brickmaker. It fails to properly patch numerous parts of the dump. DO NOT use it!
Validate your dump first, then use Flowrebuilder or Winskeet with autopatcher instead.

(This spot for later edit.)
jd20dog wrote:how do i install multiman?
Since all the multiman 4.03.02 links I find have malware inside (ugh,) here's a copy of my older 4.02.00{FULL} multiman with 4.03.03 patch.

Yes, using a Teensy++ 2.0 can use NORway to flash downgrade.
See here for more information on installing and flashing with a Teensy++ 2.0
Note: Teensy++ 2.0 is for NOR models only. In theory it could flash a NAND, but there is no software support for that yet.
