Origin Games Multiplayer - Region Locked?

Post by tigahawk » Tue Jan 01, 2013 9:52 am

Allo!

After alot of troubleshooting, im slumped at to what bit is kicking this off, probably the Origin account side of it, so if anyone else is in a similar situation to myself are they able to get confirmation?

I have an AU PS3, but a US PSN account. I was given NFSMW for Christmas and after finishing single player decided to get into Multiplayer. The online pass code which came with the game did not work, this is because of the AU game code on US PSN, so i sucked it up and purchased an online pass.

I downloaded it, i installed it, jumped back into game to play again.... Nada, it's still telling me that i need an online pass. So off to troubleshoot with EA for a few hours... they get me to login to their website with my PSN account, Origin somehow automatically linked the PSN account with my PC Origin account, and i was unable to change it/unbind it? Anyway the EA rep could see everything went through in terms of the online pass purchase on their end, and that it should be active for my account, and that the problem was with the Unlock file which i had downloaded from the PSN, and i should call Sony.

So called Sony... they had a look into it and were able to pick up pretty quickly (maybe its the accent  ) that it's not working becuase it's region locked on Origin's end. This would also explain why the in game store in NFSMW showed up as empty and to check back later each day for a week...

Since i understand its quite common for games to be region lock free for multiplayer i've not encounterd this kind of problem before...... so im wondering if anyone else whom has a game that connects up to Origin directly within the game has encounterd the same issue... so can spread the word to be weary of them if you're getting the game specifically for Multiplayer untill it can be determined if it's the different game region to PSN region or if it is doing it via your IP.

Such a shame to hear that man. the code you gave me worked fine with the preowned version of nfsmw and online was great. Didnt have to bind it to my origin account though. Maybe that's just a US thing? Could be why you cant get online here in australia. anyway could you make a US origin account and bind you psn to that?

Not your fault at all dude! I'm pretty sure origion linked my PSN account email (the one it generated when the game first connected online) to my actual Origion account by an IP log or something. When i logged in to Origin with my PSN account it took me to a page that said it was linking with my main account, it allready had my main account email filled in and greyed out, i could not change it at all or opt for another, the only thing i could do was click OK.

Will give a US Origin account a try! Just because of how it automatically linked my PSN email to my PC one... i dont even have Origin installed (havent for months...) and each time i close my browser it kills the cache, cookies, everything. So i dont know how it pulled my PC account details and linked it without giving me any say.

Are both accounts registered with the same email? that may be the cause of the pc details already being entered. happened to me with Call of Duty elite on my pc. it automatically registered on my ps3 and gave me all mw3 dlc.

no my PSN email and the one signed up to origin are different. I've created a US origin account and tried to switch it in game, even tho it accepts the details when you return to the main page it's got the old email there still... so wont let you change it.

I logged into my Origin account and changed my country of residence to USA, still no dice!
