Project Diva Extend - Translation (patch 0.4-r2 available)

Post by codestation » Thu Nov 10, 2011 11:32 pm

Image
divapatch: in-game prx patcher for Project Diva Extend 0.4-r2 by codestation

Usage:

* Copy the divapatch directory to the ms0:/seplugins directory of the PSP and enable
the plugin in game.txt: ms0:/seplugins/divapatch/divapatch.prx 1

* If you use decrypted dlc then use nploader instead of nodrm, also make sure that
nploader.prx is listed before divapatch.prx.

changes since 0.4-r1:
- Fixed crash when giving a hanging scroll (weakness) as a present in the DIVA room
- Renamed Absolute Territory -> Zettai Ryouiki, for those who knows what this means ;)
- Modified translation samples for PD 2nd#/2nd1.01
changes since 0.4:
- Improve image quality: changed png quantizer (pngnq -> pngquant).
changes since 0.3:
- "Edit mode" is further translated.
- "Play records" is translated.
- "DIVA room" is 99% translated.
- Rest of the titles are translated.
- Home, load, save, delete, osk, ad-hoc, and screenshot psp dialogs now are in english.
- Restored support to translate Project Diva 1st.
- Two more songs lyrics are translated to romaji (Sekiranun Graffiti and Rin Rin Signal).
- Almost all modes must be completly translated, with some exceptions:
-- 1% of the Titles.
-- Diva room events (their descriptions are translated).
-- Ad-hoc messages (don't have another psp to test this).
-- Friend system (don't have another psp to test this).
-- Data import/install one-time messages.
-- Edit mode motions, backgrounds, button sounds and other misc texts.

###### Read below if you are interested in editing or translating ######

The source code for this plugin and the converter is included in the src directory.
The sdk directory contain the translation source files and the xcf master image files.

Use any decent editor and make sure that the encoding is in shift-jis. After you finish
editing the file do the following:

* windows users: drop the translation txt file in the divaconverter.exe and it will create
a .bin filenames

* linux users: execute ./divaconvert <translation filename>.txt

description of the txt files:
- divaext_translation.txt: main translation filename
- divaext_embedded.txt: texts that cannot be relocated so they have size constraints
- divaext_*_base.txt: untranslated files you they can be used as reference (if you think that
a translation is wrong then you can use those files to make sure of it).

The xcf files are source files to be used with the Gimp (version 2.7) image editor (not sure if those are
compatible with Photoshop or similar). The texts are organized in layers for easy text editing.
After you are done editing the image just export it as png then use any png quantizer to make
them 8-bit indexed (i used pngquant for the task). The font used for some screens is "Berkelium"
(search for it in google).

If you want to help read below:

Translated: divaext_translation.txt
Base: divaext_translation_base.txt

Translated lyrics (romaji): divaext_embedded.txt
Translated lyrics (english): divaext_embedded_english.txt
Base lyrics: divaext_embeddedt_base.txt

The files are linked to my github account so they will be updated whenever i do a change. Thanks in advance to anybody who wants to help a little.

Note: please avoid automated/online translators, they tend to give lots of incorrect results and semantic mistakes.

P.S.: don't even try to use notepad for the love of $DEITY

so, you want us to post like a segment of what we have translated here, or upload an edit of the file with the lines translated?

Both options are fine by me, but maintain the offset number if you are gonna post any segment so i can use it as a reference to find from where it belongs (and use the

Code: Select all

 tags).

Sorry, i should have put it in my post, but the idea is to avoid automated translation tools because they give lots of incorrect results. I was expecting some help from somebody with japanese knowledge or english to check my grammar mistakes from already translated texts. Isn't as easy as copy all the item list in the translator and copy back the result ;) .

You used Yahoo (babelfish) translate, isn't? i recognize those results :)

actually no. i use kanjidic.com and http://nihongo.j-talk.com/kanji/ for the stuff kanjidic doesn't find. it's actually quite accurate for my POV, though some don't want to work. i do admit they want to be too literal in some cases, but you can always change it to something else that'll work better. but for the stuff i need help on, i do have a friend in a chatroom that gives me advice if i'm stuck on anything

Looks good to me, i was doing this block right now but my english failed me to decide if "Edit item" or "Item Edit" was the correct one.

@HeroKing i assumed it since yahoo returned me that same result. For example:

Code: Select all

!x088E5428 It goes to see Miku's Room.
Is a confirmation message (with ok/cancel buttons), so " It goes to" doesn't seem right to me in that message. Maybe "Go to the" or "Go to see *** ?" can be more appropiate.

edit: @HeroKing, thx :) , looks good to me, it only requires minor checks (like Nendorin -> Nendoroid, Saki Oto Meiko -> Sakine Meiko, etc).

I just needed a little break from the translation job so i can search for the DIVA room menu entries (they are a lot).

i agree with that. i'm mostly doing literal translations. again, as we're working on it ourselves, we can always change them to sound better to english speakers. like for some of the items, i got "clay [kanji that can't be translated] Figure". i took what can't be translated, and it basically pointed to Nendoroid, or Nendorin, whichever you'd prefer to use.

edit: no prob :P once i can get that dang christmas song from heck done on extreme, i hope i can get the Rin-Len Xmas item unlocked. the translator i used seemed to point to a brand name for guitars O.o
