Games Lagging and Crashing when on 333Mhz

Post by Aneudi2012 » Sun Jun 29, 2014 1:54 am

^When I set the clock speed to 333mhz on my PSP 3004 with 6.60 Pro-C2. Kenka Bancho crashes on the first loading screen. Star Wars Lethal Alliance also crashes randomly while playing, and the game lags and stutter horribly like no other on all of the cutscenes. When I set the clock speed to Default, then all of these problems are fixed. I tried all ISO mode such as Inferno, Sony, and M33 Driver and they all have the same effect when the clock speed is on 333Mhz. Is there a solution, because I prefer to play games on 333Mhz because they are smoother, and it makes emulator faster too. It is annoying to switch between speeds just to play homebrews or emulators.

downgrade to C1 or grab the collection version C2 it works way better then C2 official for almost everything

Will that firmware work on my PSP 3004. I do not want to accidentally brick it.

Yes PRO works on all but you should uninstall your CFW you have first to make sure but should not cause you problems but really do not understand why you have a processor bug

I tried both the modified C2 and the C fix 3, and the problems are still there.

Check your game.txt in seplugins one or more plugins may be causing the problem with that disable them one by one and check or disable them all to find out if that is the reason

Noticed you are having battery problems as well could be causing problem remove it run game without batter see if it fix the problem
BTW you sure you battery is not in Pandora mode

Kenka Bancho requires your clock speed to be set at default, or it will hang when the game has to load certain things.
Doesn't matter what firmware you're on, and there's no patch for it.

As far as keeping your clock speed at 333, I mean, if it's only a couple games that are giving you problems, it's super easy to just change that setting in the VSH menu before you play those particular games.

You talking about US Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble?
I gave it a try back in the year on my PSP (US PSN version), and I always keep my clock speed at 333 Mhz, I don't recall having any issues with it, I'll give it a try again and let you know.

Edit:
Yup, US PSN version working just fine for me, using 6.60 PRO-C f3 with CPU at 333 Mhz.

Edit2:
Okay, nevermind, I see what you're talking about, crashes for me too.

Edit3:
It's crashing on a breakpoint in sceThreadManager, not sure why though.

How about creating a dirty patch that sets a flag after the function that crashes the PSP has been called? Once the flag has been set, just overclock the device as needed.

Seems like it should work if nothing else. Unless there's something I'm missing.

hmm, I checked for $ra on stack to see where it's being called from but there was a bunch of 0xDEADBEEF values, so I'm not sure exactly which function gets called.
