GTA Vice City Stories has some good graphics. I can tell that some homebrew games have better graphics than official PSP games.

I don't know much Japanese at all (aside from the extreme basics) and I'm wondering, is this game related to the Seiken Densetsu series?

Final Fantasy Type-0 for me in Japanese both graphics and story. Tekken 6 for English in graphics. Fate/Extra for the best Story in English. if you want a shooter game, try The 3rd Birthday.
though the story kills your excitement. :x
Also liked Sol Trigger but can't understand it like Type-0.

The, 3rd Birthday has good graphics but the worst story ever.

i think god of war: chains of olympus > ghost of sparta

and tekken: dark resurrection > tekken 6

i'd also put ridge racer ahead of gran turismo

the best GTA is chinatown wars

wipeout pure > wipeout pulse

and tony hawk project 8 is a more true experience than tony hawk underground, i reckon

Crisis Core, hands down without a doubt!
The connection between FFVII and FF:AC was done so incredibly well, you could play/watch them as one continuous storyline without missing parts, really helped fill the missing links!
