Yes, but it is unhandy as hell. All 8/16 bit era joypads are proofs of that, as an example of bad designed in ergonomic means. ;) PSX joypad change that philosophy. And old mappings are kept only in Asia. Europe and Americas in most cases have 'normal' button layout.

Consoles doesn't have 40 years history with joypads...

Typo, 30. Most people have no problem playing Mario on Switch, 3DS, Wii U today. You are entitled to you opinion, but it does not represent the majority. My suspension is that you aren't holding the controller the right way. The two lowest, most outward buttons on the right (O and X) are best for the most frequent actions, because you can't press the other two buttons by mistake with your thumb that way.

I realize that for instance in Symphony of the Night you use X the jump, while square represents your left hand and circle your right. In that specific instance, it makes sense to put the jump button in "the middle", because otherwise you wouldn't be able to reach both attack buttons at the same speed.

@Yadda: I cannot agree with You because I don't have such problems. All my friends and most of the button layout in "western world" using cross for jump, and square for attack. Yet, still it's far from whole Earth population and we don't even know if majority of them prefer "my" or "your" layout. My point was not arguing (maybe it's my bad) but suggestion that current button mappings are not the best. I don't see a reason why we cannot get few button layouts for choose in option menu - then all be happy. ;)

Just finished. Quite nice game. And thanks for changed button mappings.

One issue I have - with music. It's broken in later dungeons. The same problems was in Oni Link which force me to switch to Adrenaline to finish the game there (thanks God someone port it to PSP and saves match ;p).

BTW: 2:44 on first time. ;p The last boss is a little overpowred, yet still possible to defeat.

Do you have a save on one of these late dungeons to test music?

Don't mean to hate but, PSO2 a JP only game still uses the southern button to jump/cancel.

X on Sony
A on Microsoft
B on Nintendo

So saying it should be one way because of the controls are similar on another game isn't the best argument.
