Any way to actually "install" Vitamin's dumped updates?

Post by jhuebert95 » Thu Sep 01, 2016 12:56 pm

So most of my games have dumped just fine but the annoying thing is the updates. I don't mind manually patching the updates, but it sucks that the version still says 1.00 on the livearea and you get popups when starting certain games asking you to update your game when you already did. I fixed it by placing the updates files in ux0:patch and editing app.db and manually changing the app version. Is there no better method for updates?

So if i have a vitamin dump but it's not by me, and i download the update through normal means, i could take the update files, package them as a vpk, and it works?

Just install it like a vpk? you can't... I tried changing the extension to .vpk and installing it but it didn't patch the files. It replaced the game files in ux0:app...

he said dump the update just like any vpk. problem is, as far as i can tell, we can't. i've tried dumping the patches to 2 of my games, and it always results in crashes, and the game becoming corrupt and unplayable until i reinstall from psn

The updates dump, install, and run just fine for me. The problem is since they technically weren't "installed" by the system, the system doesn't recognize them as being installed. mr.gas, any chance you would be willing to find a way to remedy this? If anyone could, you could!

@HeroKing
If you get errors after installing Vitamin dumps, give the sce_module patch a try :) Just google it. It increased my compatibility to near 100% and most if not all of my errors are gone.

my issue isn't installing dumps, it's creating them for update patches. when vitamin opens up the manual in party, it crashes. i switch back to vitamin, which attempts to open the game, and that crashes. next thing i know, my game is corrupt, and i have to start over by reinstalling from psn or qcma

hmmm sounds like that update isn't compatible as of yet. The same thing happens to me with digimon cyber sleuth. the game dumps fine, but the update does what you described. Better wait for this next compatibility update and then see what happens.
