@ Topic Starter: Why do you want to use this old port? What people here don't know: At the time i released Strife to the PSP emulator, I also ported over DOOM, Heretic & Hexen to the PSP / Vita's PSP emulator. I just didn't release them yet because right after Strife i started porting ALL Chocolate DOOM games (DOOM, Heretic, Hexen & Strife) to the Nintendo Wii as well.

Why don't you use that source code instead as it's based on Chocolate DOOM and Chocolate DOOM's source code is really clean. It also uses SDL for sound and music. My port of Chocolate DOOM also includes compatibility to nearly ALL IWAD's from DOOM, DOOM 2 & Final DOOM.

You could also use my Wii port of Chocolate DOOM as it includes MANY features such as free aim, mouse look, jumping etc.. In this case you would only have to get the native video source from my PSP port of Chocolate DOOM stuffed into the Wii port - as well as the controls and then compile it using the PSPSDK DevKit. Nothing easier than that.

Btw.: Is this a native Vita homebrew or does it use the Vita's PSP emulator?

This was more an exercise to familiarise myself with the psp2sdk than to provide the best/most feature complete Doom port.

My Vita freezes when I want to start DOOM (2 or U)... :/ I can see the DoomVita Menu but just after pushing "START" button, it freezes... :|

Good job btw ! ;)

EDIT : ok it works, FileZilla just had cut a very little part of the WAD file (100 kbs). x)

swit wrote:Nice. Out of curiosity is there an advantage for Doom-PSP by lantus/StereoMike compared to PSP DOOM Legacy v4 - ported by kgsws, updated by Duke and Sunray? I've played the latter recently and it has free aim, supports jumping and analog aiming, multiplayer, no framerate issues. In fact I've completed whole Doom 1 on Vita with it (movement on arrows, free aiming assigned to right analog). Never tried Doom-PSP.

Hopefully your project won't discourage others from porting GZDoom or Zandronum engines for Vita. After playing Brutal Doom recently I think I won’t be able to enjoy vanilla gameplay anymore. Just look at this beauty :)

I recommend any Doom fan to at least try it on PC or other devices (there is GZDoom on Android)
heck YEAH!!!! Brutal Doom is awesome. Think it needs GZDoom though since the Mods are .pk3 Files. This is what I am hoping for though. A Doom Loader that can run BD :D
PS3(BC60GB): 4.65 Rebug CFW

Is Vita fast enough for Brutal Doom though? It requires a pretty beefy PC, and vita's 444 mhz max CPU struggles even with simpler things.

The Vita's CPU clock is nowhere near 444MHz, it's a ~2GHz dual-core. It should be able to run most vanilla WADs easily.
