We have the SNES and Genesis emulators, the catsfc based one is amazing just needs a couple of visual tweaks and savestates. The Genesis one needs some work as the sound is a little crackly. I tried the GBA emulator with Super Mario Advance 2 (i.e. Super Mario World)) and to my surprise it was laggy and the sound was a mess, odd as the GBA is a simpler machine than the SNES so it's probably just that the emulator itself needs refinement.

Oh... I think MAME emulation was missed for the poll. This could be useful for more complex arcade games like OutRun, which is laggy via the MAME4ALL ePSP.

PS2 shouldn't be on there, it's impossible to get it working on the Vita's hardware.

I'd personally like to see a port of Picodrive, as neither existing ports of Genesis Plus GX run at full speed without dropping frames for 3.18 users.

Suffice to say, some of the items on this list have turned out to be starry-eyed wishful thinking. Still, maybe someday we can install some kind of persistent elf loader and use the VIta as kind of a supercharged PSP?

Picodrive is awesome, totally agree. Beyond that, though, I really wanted some computer emulators(Atari ST, Commodore Amiga, Sharp X68000, FM Towns, PC 88/98) by now. I miss when having a homebrew scene meant people were super excited and new emulators were coming out daily or weekly. Sigh.

There is still a good chance it will happen. Although not until the Vita is running homebrew in a more convenient way. As it is I don't think the SDK was ever finished and afaik nobody is finishing it(?) Also nobody really bothered to explain how to use it for people that don't know how to get started.

The day YifanLu announced that people should download the PSM app, there were tons of people (just compare the amount of comments those posts got)... Perhaps they're waiting for something.
