PS3, need advice with Downgrade

Greetings, I'm new to the Sony modding Scene (extremely new).
Need a bit of reassurance as I am a nervous mess. I have a crapton of PSN games and Bluray games. What would drive me to come on here? I have a 2 TB hard drive and I'm aware that PS update 4.5X will do the trick.
So as long as I format the Hard Drive to 1.75 TB (losing about 7%), have the PS3 downgraded to 4.55 or 4.53, install the new HDD onto it, upgrade back to 4.83, I should be fine.
My question: Is it possible to do all of this and set the PS3 back to "normal" so I can access my account/games I've purchased on PSN. Can I mod the Superslim (and backup Slim) PS3s I own, do the procedure, get the HDD installed, then remove the "Custom OS" or mod and set the PS3 back to normal with its new HDD without trouble?
