[OPEN]Solder USB-C onto Vita1000 instead of microusb?

Post by ComradeHX »

Has anyone done so before?

I bought a used vita 1001(or something like that) with fw3.60 but it has problem charging(assuming it's either battery or port, bought replacement for battery and microusb port just in case) normally.

But it's 2018 and I'm upgrading my phone to one that has usb-c port, so I want usb-c for psvita too.

I need to know if there's any spacing issue if using usb-c to replace the top "mystery port." Since I was looking at one attached to pcb for ease of solder:

How would you do this anyway? I mean, the casing isn't designed for USB-C. Wouldn't look as nice, I'd think.

The plan is to replace the "mystery port" on top, which is usually covered.
