Can I apply MaiDump Patch to games that are installed by VPK

Suppose I installed a VPK version of Uncharted Golden Abyss and I found a Patch that is in MaiDump method. Can I apply the patch using MaiDumpTool?
Also can you tell me, which games must need Update or Patch.
