Is it possible to sync trophies without updating firmware?

Basically I have a Vita that can run rejuvenate that I don't want to update for obvious reasons and a Vita TV that I keep up to date because I have an HTPC I can use instead of it for media and emulators and the like - its only real purpose is to play Danganronpa and Persona 4 Golden for me on my TV honestly

Anyway, I want to know if I transfer a game from the handheld to the TV (like I play at work and collect trophies) if that trophy data will carry over too and thus be able to be synced to the server, or if it only carries the game data + saves

Trophies are the only real online feature I care about at this point since Sony kind of dropped a lot of the incentives of using the thing online and if I can get that I'm golden

We are not allowed to back up trophies, only sync them.
It looks like sync will be possible if/when firmware version spoof method is found and released, and rumored 'hybrid' firmware will likely help with that.
