PS2 Fat swap card not working?

Basically, I made a swap card out of an old Amazon giftcard (cut a little slit/cut the corner), but can't seem to find the peg in the PS2. I removed the plastic in front of the disk drive. I would use FHDB, but don't have a HDD/Network Adapter/IDE-to-USB adapter. Where is the peg?

I did that, but it didn't work. Is there a template for the card which I can use to make it our of my dead credit card?
