you will need a ps2, a ps2memory card, a copy of "007 - agent under fire" (or other compatible game), and a few other things that can be downloaded.

basically you must rip an iso from one of the compatible games, then modify a couple of files and burn them to a disk. then you must start the official game and play it to a certain point, then swap out the modified disk you burnt which will allow you to load the boot app and install the loader. since you've got a slim, you will probably need to look up videos of the disc swapping procedure. it involves shoving little pieces of paper or plastic straws into a couple of sensors so the ps2 will not detect when the disk tray is opened and the disk is replaced.

here are a few links to start with:

AR Max can also be used to run FreeMCBoot's installer. Here's a tutorial on how to install it.

If you can get your hands on a PS2 memcard reader for PS3, you can use it on your PC to install the files also.

Seriously?! I sold my memor32 unit way back in the day & have been looking for another that isn't $50, lol. I can get a PS2->PS3 card adapter for like $5. Are there any special program tools needed to move the files like that?

The only thing I know you can use it for on PC is installing Free McBoot (there's an installer that works with it on the official site). I don't know if it supports 3rd party ones or not, I haven't tried it myself. If you're wanting to use it to move saves around then you'll have to do some research yourself ;)

Installing Freemcboot is all I really need to do anyway. Thanks a bunch, I didn't know it could be done like that. :D

Is it possible to softmod a SCPH-90001 PS2 Slim with date code 9D?

Sadly, so far these consoles can not be softmodded. They were patched by Sony to not be softmodded
But the bright side is that you can find a PS2 for around 50-100 bucks these days on a popular online bidding website.
Any console sold after mid-2008 will most likely not be softmod-able.

Sorry for the disappointment!
