Modernized Vintage Sets (480x690 Borderless)

Post by Nethellus »

Introduction:

Using my own automated script I have begun to modernize the old vintage sets of magic to make the cards fit better with the modern sets. So far, all cards up until the Fallen Empires set have been completed, and they are available here for anyone who is interested. The cards are borderless 480x690, with updated modern card text, and the art has been adjusted with less graininess, lower brightness and higher contrast, and also new rarity icons have been added. Also a few cards have new alternative art in cases when a set has a misprint that causes it to have duplicate identical cards (like what Arabian Nights have). I didn't want to have identical cards in the same set so I simply added new art on the duplicates.

I do think these modernized cards look very good in game, but there is a file called alphabeta.png among the wagic graphic files that give alpha and beta cards rather weird borders. That file should be replaced with a solid black png file (which I have included below). That seems to fix it.

Installation:

- Download the files.
- Unzip the alpha-beta border fix into wagic\user\graphics.
- Unzip the other zip files into wagic\user\sets.
- Play game, have fun.

Thank you guys, I hope you enjoy.

In other news, I have now finished the Arabian Nights set. I have updated the first post with a download link to it.

This set was a bit tricky though since it contains some misprints, and because of this, there are duplicate cards in the set and in the Wagic game that are identical except for the tiny misprint. I didn't want to make identical cards in the same set however, so I gave the misprinted duplicates new art instead. The art I took from newer editions or from suitable artwork I found around the internet. Here is an examples with the original art on the left and the alternative art on the right:

I have now finished the Legends set. It is available in the first post.

I have also started using version numbering on the sets, and I have compiled the first rotation of sets (LEA, LEB, 2ED, ARN, ATQ) into a single file, so you don't have to download a lot of small files. All sets in the first rotation have also been updated with corrections on some small mistakes I made before, and a lot of them have had their art further tweaked with better brightness/contrast. The Revised Edition have also received a similar small update.
