Strange. I'm having Windows XP too and Wagic works without problems. I really have no idea what the problem might be.
Some semi-random things you might want to try (I don't know whether they are relevant for Wagic though):
- make sure that you're logged in with administrator rights
- install the C++ redistributables in the order in which they are mentioned in the instructions
- make sure you have a recent version of DirectX installed (though AFAIK Wagic's engine only needs DirectX 8.0 or later, that's so old that if you have *any* DirectX on your machine, then it's probably recent enough)
- make sure you have the latest Service pack for your operating system
Can you give a description of the machines where Wagic didn't work, and what exactly you did when you installed it? Since Wagic does work on my Windows XP machine, there must be something which your two machines (or the installation process you used) have in common which is the cause of the problem, and which doesn't exist in my environment.
