Sweet blue/artifact draw deck.

I just made this blue/artifact deck a few minutes ago that allows you to pump out tons of mana and draw tons of cards. I haven't seen any decks like this on here so I figured I would share it.
If your not careful, you can actually run out of cards with this deck, so it wouldn't match up well with a mill deck. Besides drawing tons of cards and having lots of mana, use the copper gnomes to whip out akroma's memorial or inkwell leviathan (only put it in cuz its the biggest artifact creature at the moment, besides a few that aren't colorless or blue. Will replace it with something cool like darksteel colossus or platinum angel once they add one). While you are playing mad amounts of cards, you'll be using lumengrid sentinel to tap any of your opponents big creatures that could be a formidable block, then hit em hard. The only glitch I have found so far is, for some reason, sculpting steel cant copy inkwell leviathan (all the more reason to ditch it for a cooler artifact when somebody adds it).

The AI will do some dumb things, but it works it better than some decks. As with every deck it never picks good targets for anything.
An image that you can use for the AI is in the upload thing.

The approach sounds similar to this deck, but it may be a good example why I keep saying that similarities are no problem, because there's always room for variation. :) For example, the deck I linked to depends on tons of cheap artifacts, the Tolarian Academy for massive mana boost, Vedalken Archmages to draw cards and make use of all this mana, Masters of Etherium as powerful finishers (being pumped by all the artifacts), and Akroma's Memorial to provide Trample (among other bonuses). If your deck has Inkwell Leviathans as finishers, or tries to bring out *huge* artifact creatures, then it's already very different, and players will definitely enjoy both. :)

Niegen has made an Esper deck too, so three blue/artifact decks have now emerged in a very short time - this combo must be very popular. :) And we don't even have affinity yet.

Btw, you may want to consider using the name notation instead of the numbers, it's a bit easier to maintain (and also easier to read :) ).

One thing more: "Sculpting Steel" currently leads to freezes when the AI has it in its hand and there's no artifact on the battlefield to copy. I had to take it out for that reason, testers kept reporting crashes. It's a cool card, but currently inadvisable for an AI deck. Niegen often releses a "player" and an "AI" version of his decks to circumvent that problem. I'm only releasing AI decks anyway so I usually simply take everything out that confuses the AI (like, as you said, cards that require good targeting).

It's always nice to see new decks, keep them coming. :)

I built the deck in the game. Is there a way to make the game organize your cads the new way?

Also, this deck is a lot more powerful (tho similiar) than Master of Etherium, you should give it a try.

No. When I built a deck in game, I then open a text file, scroll the the deck in Wagic, and write down the card names and numbers in the text file. Then I play against the AI, give the AI the deck I just wrote, and check whether it has 53 cards in its library after drawing its hand. If yes, then the deck is okay. If no, then I probably made a typo somewhere, or specified a wrong expansion, and double check that. (Fortunately, the number of cards missing is a good cue for the line that has the error.)

It's a bit more work to set it up this way, but easier to maintain (or read) imho. I was initially reluctant to switch to the names approach (because I had just released four decks with numbers), but I'm glad I switched. After a while one starts to forget minor details about a deck, especially if the deck keeps receiving minor changes, and maintaining a list of numbers is a bit unwieldy. ;)

A while ago I suggested that the game would save player decks in this form:
123456 # Funny Card Name (SET)
This would make it very easy to convert the files (if then still desired). But there are so many ideas floating around, and so few programmers, and so many more pressing matters ...

Also, this deck is a lot more powerful (tho similiar) than Master of Etherium, you should give it a try.

I will. :) Currently I'd expect your deck to be better for players, but mine to be better for the AI - but that's just a guess, I may be wrong. Though if I'm right, then it's just another reason why it's not at all bad to have several decks with similar cards. ;)

Btw: Regarding the problim with Sculpting Steel not copying Inkwell Leviathan. I've checked whether the Leviathan is coded correctly (seems so), but noticed he has Shroud. Probably this keeps Sculpting Steel from copying it. If so, then this might be a bug, though I'd like to have a second opinion on that.

My reasoning is that the rule:

702.16a Shroud is a static ability. "Shroud" means "This permanent or player can't be the target of spells or abilities."

specifies that cards with Shroud can't be targeted, and Sculpting Steel does not mention "target" in its rules text (while having been printed late enough for this to be unlikely to be an oversight).

from http://wololo.net/wagic/bugs/:
Clone cannot copy creatures with shroud

That's the same bug (and no, it won't be solved soon)

Thanks for the clarification (hrmph, forgot to look there myself).

I guess fixing this would require to code a way how spells could "choose" other cards without "targeting" them, which indeed seems too much effort for too little gain (especially since much more pressing matters are at hand).

I see. Well like I said, when darksteel colossus, platinum angel, or some other awesome artifact comes out, ill swamp em first thing. 8-)
