Does it actually affect the framerate / performance of the game whether you compress your images like you can now in 0.7.1?
Or does it make no change?
Image Files in .zip - Performance?
Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
I think it makes it so it's much faster to transfer the files to the mem stick, copying 5000 files takes like 1 hour, this way should take A LOT less time.

Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
1 hr, I don't know what your PC speed is, but only took me a little over 20 mins
Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
Well, i know that, but I want to know if it increases loading times ingame.
Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
Yes, my PC is poo-poo and it was 9000 files or so, it was the package that a guy here uploaded on emule, it took me 50 minutes.

mine's 2.2 dual core, 4gb ram lol
Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
There is no performance loss, AS LONG AS you don't compress. Just use the "store" option (i.e. no compression) when you create the zip.superhiro wrote:Well, i know that, but I want to know if it increases loading times ingame.

Game plays the same as before. No performance differences with the cards zipped.

Re: Image Files in .zip - Performance?
Same for me...no difference in playing time, loading times, etc. No compression on the .zip files, just basically put them into a .zip and moved them. But it does transfer a little faster...not a whole lot, because it is still roughly the same size, but the bigger single file moves faster than the multiple smaller files.
I like it, now that I figured it out...or rather, had it shown to me...twice.

Transfer rate should be WAY faster not just a little. File size is partially irrelevant when you have 12+ files opposed to 1000s.DrLitebur wrote:Same for me...no difference in playing time, loading times, etc. No compression on the .zip files, just basically put them into a .zip and moved them.
