I started playing WTH a while back. I thought: "Hey! What a great program which allows people to fall in love again with a classic card game... and even better, to play it to its (almost) full potential without ruining yourself." For this reason I wanted to thank and congratulate everyone who contributed to this project so far. It surpasses every other similar programs I have tried.
Here's a little story that explains why I am creating this new topic:
One day, I wanted to enhance my experience of this amazing program, so I visited the forum... and I got scared! Lots of information. Tons of different topics/sub-topics/pages. Then comes the "you should read this topic/document/link/miki/wiki/subsection-rules before posting". I am sorry to say I was stunned but I could understand the reason behind all this. I read most notices and then wanted to speed things up a bit so I used the "search" feature to see if certain subjects had already been discussed... I found some but couldn't find some other ones. For the ones I found, some of the links to mods, packages or add-ons were broken. Unfortunately, at that time, I didn't take the time to register nor wrote down in which sections I found those broken links.
Now that you know my story and since I'm convinced some other visitors/members can get confused. I wanted to know if I could offer my help as a moderator/admin on this forum. My main goal is to help cleaning/reconfiguring it one topic at the time and in parallel so it could still be up and running. I would like to make "one and only" (new) README topic (locked by admins/mods) where one could see:
- date of this page's last update (yyyy-mm-dd)
- the latest built of the program (yyyy-mm-dd) including download links for each different platform and also previous versions
- the updated FAQs (yyyy-mm-dd)
- a complete section on "HOW TO" and "HOW DO I" (yyyy-mm-dd) including an updated explanation document on coding cards
- a list (yyyy-mm-dd) of all add-ons/mods/packs with download link, their author's name, the date of their last update
- a list of cards which need to be tested, those being written/work-in-progress, the banned/bugged, the wishlist/demands, etc.
Each section would then link the reader to the (closest) corresponding topic for more information or discussions on the matter.
I am not sure about this forum but it seems to support groups. Like most forums, it allows you to give different access level to visitors/members/progs/devs/mods/admins and also hide some topics from certain people depending on their access level. That could limit the expansion of the forum, keep certain discussion topics a little less messy and restrict traffic volume to specific topics. This is just another thought.
I'm sure there is already a bunch of very dedicated admins/mods for this forum and I am in no way saying they don't do their job or that I want to replace any of them. I just wanted to bring a new perspective, as an outsider totally new to this project and who's been on other forums as members/mod/admin too. As I previously stated, this could be done in parallel to avoid interferences. This is how I wish I could contribute to Wagic whenever I can spare some time... even if it is only 1 to 3 hours per week. Let me know what it's gonna be.
In the mean time I will try to go back and find the broken links to report them. I will also add some of my work/cards whenever I get the chance.
CHEERS!
