I'm pretty sure this won't be the last competition of this type. :)

Update: Games 3-5 of all groups have now been played, I'll update the results thread now. :)

Results thread is updated now, first half of the first stage is finished. Every deck has played 2 group matches, and has 2 more matches left to play in its group. I'll probably do these in the next two days.

Potentially interesting results: There's an interesting trend in the results: The later the group, the closer the results. ;) Groups C, H, A have mostly clear victories and clear group tables with 2 decks having won both their matches, 2 having lost both, and one deck having won and lost one match each. Groups M and P have the decks a bit closer together in the table (because of a drawn match), but most matches have a clear winner. Groups I, O, N have close tables, and nearly each match in these groups was very close too!

Group O is the only group where no deck managed to win both its matches.

In each group there's at least one deck that has *lost* both its matches. Three particularly unlucky decks are The Memorial, Lifeboat, and Naya Aggro, which lost both their matches 2-4, the narrowest loss possible. Elfolk did it the other way round, it won both its matches 4-2.

How did your decks fare? Which results caught your attention? :)

Well, "Relentless" winning both it's first matches was a surprise.

Glad to hear it! I've already started making and play testing two decks for the next competition. =D One of them is pretty much done and I think will be competitive. The other one needs some tweaking to avoid mana screw since it's a three color deck. If it weren't for the RV dual lands, it wouldn't work, but I believe that it is viable since these lands exist.

I was somewhat surprised, although not extremely. When I threw the deck together I predicted that it would win around half of its games. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I didn't play test it with the AI in mind before submitting it since I was pretty busy (college apps =O) and mostly made the deck because I thought it would be interesting (a deck with only two types of cards >.<). However, after the tournament began I played a few matches against it with the decks I'm making for the next tournament and against one of them it lost every single time. The rats deck starts off too slowly. However, many AI decks are also slow to start and against those, Relentless becomes formidable quickly.

Anyway, good luck to everyone! I find it very interesting looking through the decks people have made and the match results =D Wagic will have many great new additions to its AI deck database through competitions like this one.

Aw... Too Bad. I actually thought The Memorial would do better.
Probably the inability to use dual lands hurt alot of decks.

Gogogogo SilverBlade!

I think that for the next competition, it would be nice to have a list of the stuff AI can or cannot use properly.
Eg. Unable to use dual lands. That would help alot in deck building.

Hey, when is the 2nd Stage starting?

Can't wait for the results! :D

Yea, I can't wait either =D This has actually proven more entertaining than I thought it would be. I guess it's because Psyringe includes game wins/losses for particular match-ups in addition to just raw points so it's interesting to track how individual decks fare against each other as well as overall.

I guess this is where play-testing comes in, although I do agree that a list would be useful.

My deck seems to be one of the ones where it can neither win nor lose, heh. Seems to be straight draws every match.
