Hey, it's your tourney so you can allow anything you want, but after thinking about it - I agree that is what DCI probably meant after all why put the exception on the card if it wouldn't be legal in Standard, Extended, Legacy or Vintage decks.

I am (however) very shocked to see so many 'Swords to Plowshares' seeing that the AI plays this card soooo badly - it is as likely to ace its creature as it is yours & as likely to take out a 0/1 wall as the 37/37 rat with fear thats coming at it!!!

UPDATE: All decks have now been posted to the Results thread. Fixtures will soon follow. Matches (apart from the training matches which are currently running) will probably start tomorrow.

Regarding Swords to Plowshares: With the AI memory fixed, it should be much better in choosing targets for this spell now (although it shouldn't have targeted its own creatures with it even without memory working). We'll see how the decks that use it perform. Perhaps we'll be surprised. :)

any chance we know when's the next posting of fixed version of wagic, there were some decks that I didn't want to post since they were only recently pointed out to be fixed.
For example Stonebrow, Krosan Hero, which I wanted in my trample/warrior R/G deck.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the AI unable to use dual lands, that and unable to use a tutor like demonic.

Wow. The Decks all look to be quite competitive.

Can't wait for the results!

Why isn't this upgrade available in the download section? If it has fixes that make the game play better why hide it in the star wars set?

Not complaining or anything - just askin' :D

As far as I know (though it's been a while since I last checked it), the AI can use dual lands, but will only use the first option when tapping them, so most of the time basic lands are the better option. However, seeing that several decks with dual lands have been submitted, that could be seen as a sign that we should prioritize that issue. It's hard to come up with an algorithm that's "smart" and efficient though. But we'll try. :)

Regarding the tutor - yes, the AI currently just ignores tutoring cards, so this is a "dead card" in the respective deck. I should perhaps add that some decks were submitted by people who knew that the AI wouldn't be able to use all the cards, but who were curious how the AI would fare with such a deck in its current state. This is a good thing. It shows us weaknesses in the current AI, and it gives us a baseline against which we can compare the performance of such decks later on, when we've improved the AI. So, we shouldn't be surprised to see such cards in the competition. Some decks were clearly meant to be competitive, while others were meant to be flavor decks, experiments, or tests for the AI. We have it all. :)

I can't tell anything about the release schedule, that's a question for wololo. :)

Hi.

Do you mind explaining what do all the abbreviations stand for?

Like M, P, GD, G+, G- etc...

Code: Select all

    Rk Deck           M  P GD G+ G-  W  D  L
    1 WRG Zoo         0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0
    2 FiveCC          0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0
    3 Lifeboat        0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0
    4 Twin Pricks     0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0
    5 EnchantG        0  0  0  0  0  0  0  0

Thanks.

Glad you asked. :)

M: Matches played
P: Points (2 points per won match, 1 point per draw)
GD: "Games difference" - games won minus games lost in all matches
G+: Games won in all matches
G-: Games lost in all matches
W: Matches won
D: Matches drawn
L: Matches lost

P is the main score. GD is used as a tiebreaker. If P and GD are identical, then I'll look at the matches between the tied decks. If these don't break the tie, I'll do an extra match to decide the ranking.

Ah. I see. I was wondering what the abbreviations meant too. Maybe you should post them on the competition results thread for users that don't see your post here?

Update: The first match results (first two matches of the first four groups) have been posted. The official opening match was a convincing 6-0 victory of EnchantG over WRG Zoo.

Several of the first matches had clear 6-0 results, often due to some more experimental decks using dual lands, which the AI can't apply efficiently at the moment. But we also had a very close victory (Sealed vs. GW Overrun 4-2, with some closely contested individual games), and our first draw (Hot & Hasty vs. DestroyWhis 3-3. DestroyWhis was leading 3-2, but Hot&Hasty pulled even in a very close game which saw the winner with only 5 life left). I'll keep you posted. :)

@Szei: Explanation of the table abbreviations has been added to the first post in the results thread, thanks for the suggestion. :)
