How soon is the next version to be available?

Post by Curt » Mon Dec 17, 2012 7:13 am

Looking to either get a newer version (beyond 18.6 current) or at least looking for a coder that can modify my latest version so that I can use mana more than 2^7th power (128 mana) in certain decks.

If anyone can update this formula and send me a link, I would be very appreciative. And others I would be guessing the same too :)

Sadly, we are not actively working on a new release at this time, as all devs are more or less "doing other stuff".
For mana, I think the idea would be to change the variable type to something else than a byte

Was a byte chosen for mana size to help the game run faster? Or just because devs weren't expecting people to use over 128 mana?

Yes, it was an optimization to minimize ram usage on the PSP.

It's not so well done, but basically both cards in the collection and the manapool use a "manapool" object, itself inheriting the "manacost" object. The result is that manacost (the cost printed on cards) needs to be as small as possible for the database size (the different between a byte and 4 bytes is huge when you have to handle 20'000 cards)...which led to that optimization.

In hindsight I'm not sure it was a great move, but...

that was already corrected in svn i thought. I remembered changing mana to use uint16 up from uint8 (128) maybe I forgot to alter the mana pool and only did it for cost.

Then it's possible you fixed it in the svn, and jwilkes99999 is just waiting for the next official release to see that fix

Yeah that would be the problem I imagine. I've seen the guides for building from the current svn but just haven't had the time.
