Re: Getting started. . .

I suggest a strong background in C++, and I don't think that school is a prerequisite. There are plenty of good texts you can acquire, as well as free online references. http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ That's a good place to start; once you get your feet wet & start to feel comfortable with t...

Re: Rev. 2917 PSP Compilation Error

In case it's not clear, you need to 'make clean' in *both* your JGE and mtg folder. Just running it inside the mtg folder isn't enough...

Re: Non Latin-1 font support

I haven't touched the font code much, but I imagine it would require a fair bit of work. Your best bet is to share a patch file of what you've modded so far so that other devs can try out your changes.

Re: Bugs SVN

This is specifically 'don't complain if a function parameter is unused', which is all over the code. If you have a virtual function with parameters that aren't being referenced (which I think is perfectly valid), then it complains. We don't have this warning in play in any of the other platform conf...

Re: Bugs SVN

I tried building in Ubuntu with QTCreator, and by adding this line:
QMAKE_CXXFLAGS += -Wno-unused-parameter

That clears out most of the warnings you're seeing. I wasn't sure about the other platforms though, as I'm not running QTCreator elsewhere.

Re: Wiki Should get updated... Linux users Please READ!

Try libfreetype6-dev, libglut3-dev. Also, beware if you're running your linux distro on VMware. GL doesn't work cleanly depending on what VM you're using.

Re: Bugs SVN

Fixed a problem with the make file, 'make clean' wasn't deleting stale .pch files. Should be good now.

Re: string parsing crashes

if you're going to use gVariable & mClassMember, I think it's only natural to be consistent and use kConstant as well. I would reserve the ALL_CAPS specifically for macros - anything that uses #define. Const variables should be always used in place of #define SOME_VAR 42. There's no type safety in #...

Re: string parsing crashes

Full words for vars, and kPrefix please. I'm not a fan of ALL_CAPS in code, it's the equivalent of shouting in every other textual paradigm. Why does a const declaration require better visibility than other code? It doesn't...
