I do have the UMD. It's the regular version, not the Greatest Hits.

I'm having the exact same issue, only with firmware 6.30. PSP 2001 also. I'd submit an official bug report, but I don't get a dbglog file. All the right files are in the right places, game starts to load, little UMD in the corner, black screen for a few seconds, and the PSP shuts off. Hopefully my a...
