Hey everybody, it’s week 2 of my news summary, and if you haven’t realized I’ve decided to re-name it. It’s a bit better, don’t you think? Anyway, on the topic. This week lots happened. Xbox announced the reveal of their next gen console, there’s a new colour controller coming to US, Amazon lists Fifa 14 for the Vita, and here’s the fun one. A 90 year old had a go on the Oculus Rift!

Just like my other article for the US Store, another excellent sale is on the way, if you can’t read the picture right next to this text, it is called ‘Lost Treasures Sale’ on sale are games that have gone into the depths of the playstation store, and have been forgotten about, so to speak. It involves games like the Vita’s Smart As, PS3′s Oddworld Strangers Wrath, and indie game From Dust.

Leaked reports from the NPD Group (a market research company covering, among other industries, the video games market) indicate that the Vita has sold about 33’000 units last month in the US, as reported by ArsTechnica.

By comparison, the 3DS reportedly sold about 7 times this amount.

Several people have pointed to me that I shouldn’t talk about “PS Vita hacks” when what I’m really talking about are hacks inside the PSP emulator running on the Vita. But I’ll have to say in my defense that with each iteration, the PSP emulator on the Vita is going further away from the actual PSP firmware, with its seemingly endless series of security features (that are probably really here to avoid a stupid crash happening on your Vita, but also have the convenient side effect of delaying hacks inside the psp emulator).

In what has now become a ritual or a tradition, call it what you like, Sony has put Apache Overkill back on the PSN, after pulling it from all their stores following the announcement and release of a VHBL port through an exploit in the game.

PS Vita’s Firmware 2.10 was recently released, and we already know that Sony blocked the Apache Overkill VHBL, but this update comes with quite a few hidden surprises called “stability improvements” :o
