Hey people, April is coming soon, and it is bringing the Easter Bunny with it. I have been thinking for a while of a nice contest to have with a cool prize in it. Homebrew contests are great (I did organize a huge homebrew contest back in 2011 with insane cash prizes) but difficult and long to organize. They also are restricted to developers.

With Easter coming soon, I had the opportunity to start a fun and simple contest that everyone can take part in: We’re going to hide easter “eggs” on the website. The Eggs will not be made of chocolate (mostly because sending chocolate through the intertubes could damage our server and reduce your internet speed), but they will contain PSN Codes.

And because I didn’t want this contest to be only fun, but also epic, we are giving away not $50, not $100, but $1000 in PSN Codes!

Here is a huge post with the most popular 50 homebrews and tools of the past year for the PSP and the Vita in our database. I should have published this one several weeks ago but didn’t find the time to prepare the list recently. If you are new to the PSP/Vita scene, or if you’re looking for some exciting new content to try, this is what you are looking for! You can find more homebrews on /downloads, and don’t forget to add yours, and to rate your favorite ones. No login is required!

Most of the homebrews are compatible with both the PSP and the vita (in the case of the vita, you’ll need to run VHBL or CEF)

Emulators are by far the most popular type of homebrews on the PSP and on the PS Vita. Although we already have very well organized lists for VHBL and TN-V Owners (respectively here and here, thanks to SMOKE), his lists also include more things and can be a bit difficult to digest if you’re only looking for a specific emulator. Dragon Chan (with the help of kakarotto) has a great list with explanations and downloads here, unfortunately the links all point to a site in Italian where a registration is required, which is not great.

I’ve been getting a lot of complaints about my last article from the 10 Days of Hacking due to the sudden decrease of quality, and I want to apologize by creating a bonus day where I want to talk about some interesting hacks and developments.
Consider this the real Day 6 if you may.

The PlayStop Network is a homebrew version of PSN it allows you to download VHBL and CEF homebrews. They can be transferred to your psvita with open cma. It is every similar to PSN, only on your PC but downloading homebrews is not the main feature, you can also chat with people using this app.

Now the team behind the construction of the PlayStop Network app realizes what a hassle it can be to look for all your Homebrew & Emulators need’s. So they created a Windows based portal in an attempt to consolidate all of that annoying work for you within one main functional hub. Read the rest of this entry »
