PS3 Update 4.84 released, does not patch StoreHaxx
Sony has rolled out a new firmware version for the PS3 today, version 4.84. At the time of this writing, the official Playstation site still says the latest version is 4.83, so the contents of the official changelog is still unknown.
According to PS3 hacker esc0rtd3w (of PS3Xploit fame), this latest update is minimal. The developer also confirmed this update does not patch PS3Xploit Team’s StoreHaxx. However, it’s worth reminding everyone that the latest hackable firmware is 4.82, as the PS3 4.83 update patched ps3Xploit back in October.
the changes from 4.81 to 4.82 were insignificant.
the changes from 4.82 to 4.83 were drastic, and broke part of the exploit!
the changes from 4.83 to 4.84, so far, seem very minor, at least from a reverse-engineering stance

StoreHaxx works on 4.84 OFW 👍

In other words, there does not seem to be much harm in upgrading from 4.83 to 4.84, but if you’re on 4.82 or below and want to hack your console (or keep it hacked), you should of course stay away from these recent updates.
