TheFlow reveals what he’s been up to with FW 3.65/3.67! – taiHEN (HENkaku) will eventually find its way on FW 3.65/3.67
After about a day and a half after his cryptic ‘It took me exactly one year.’ tweet, TheFlow has finally revealed what he’s been up to on the Vita. It seems that he’s finally going to give us the missing piece of the puzzle that the Vita scene has been missing for quite a while and that is a hack for FW 3.61+.
What TheFlow has revealed
Through a series of tweets, TheFlow has told us the following:

Exactly a year ago, he found a user entry point that he could further exploit to run unsigned code on the Vita by chainloading a kernel exploit.
HENkaku Enso will soon be coming to a Vita/PSTV running FW 3.65 near you!
- Then, in the last two weeks, TheFlow worked 8 hours a day on exploiting firmware 3.67 as he had University holidays. Now, he has a full chain exploit for firmware 3.67 which could be used to port taiHEN to it! He also mentioned that he achieved this without a devkit which shows that he pulled off an even greater feat!
- Now, the part that some of you will automatically balk at. He doesn’t plan to release his work right now but don’t worry, it will eventually be released! TheFlow stated a rough ETA which puts the release of a public hack for FW 3.67 either at the end of this year or sometime next year.
- On the bright side, he said that he could port Enso to firmware 3.65 (but you’ll still need to be on firmware 3.60 to install it) sooner than he could release his hack for FW 3.67.
As you can see, this is awesome news for the PSVita scene since you will, in the foreseeable future, be able to play games that require firmware 3.61+.
Perhaps the extra wait won’t be such a bad thing since there will be less titles that will require a firmware higher than 3.67 since Sony will undoubtedly patch TheFlow’s hack for FW 3.67!
Titles like the popular ‘Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony’ will eventually be playable on a hacked firmware if you can be patient!
Quite obviously, don’t update to FW 3.65/3.67 just yet if you’re on a lower FW. Don’t update past FW 3.67 either if Sony releases a new version!
Conclusion
In light of this awesome news, TheFlow asks everybody not to push him to release his hack sooner or give more narrower ETAs.
Remember, this man has a life to attend to and a University course to finish. As you can see, hacking consoles is something that takes an awful lot of time so developers must be allowed to take how long they want especially since they’re doing it for FREE.
As for now, you can only check TheFlow’s Twitter for further updates on the matter and not bug him!

people hacking ps4 are just as competent. i’d guess ps4 is a bit newer implementation, so sony already had a few lessons of hardware security.

Least he isn’t like qwerty in the ps4 scene, cause if he were this would be a lot worse, and it wouldn’t be released. This will be worth the wait.

Means if ur vita is on 3.60 u’ll be able to install enso and play new games that require 3.61+

Most likely that you will need to be in 3.60, install the port there AND THEN Update to 3.65 :O (Greatest advantage of which would be, obviously, to play ‘backups’ requiring that firmware or inferior)
I’m looking at it like this…..Enso will get a update/port. It’ll be updated where it can still preserve itself even after an update. Then you update the system firmware, and if all goes as planned then enso should still be intact on 3.65, and 3.67 when it’s respectively ported to each.
Uh.. what was 3.61+ Vita games again?
Mary Skelter, Utawarerumono, Dungeon Travelers 2-2, to name a few.
Every game that was released after World of Final Fantasy. Macross Delta, The Caligula Effect (ENG release), SD Gundam G Generation Genesis and a few more.
Port enso to 3.65, enso is just a patch and not a HEN so we can’t run homebrew from livearea on 3.65 Also the fact that we have to install it from 3.60 is a problem. Any error and you have to reinstall firmware erase enso so it’s problematic. I think that can help people to dump 3.65 games to run it on 3.60 but not have a CFW on 3.65

Now let’s hope someone doesn’t leak anything. At times I enjoy leaks just as much as the next end user but this feels like it could be something huge. Take your time TheFlow, can’t wait to see what you’ll release.

If he announced it for 3.67, I’d say upgrade.
Personally, I bought Danganronpa v3 for the ps4 while it was on sale so I could remote play it on the PS Vita (since it was unplayable on a hacked vita). Although I won’t be playing this game when the FW is released directly on the vita, the are countless of games released and being released that will be playable from there on.

IMHO, if you are going to wait for the possible unlock that TheFlow is working, I would not update.
