Yakzee for the PSVita released – Play Yahtzee on the go!
Thanks to some talented developers, we’re still getting cool homebrew games for the PSVita. This time, we got Yakzee, a Yahtzee game, by developer dragaron.
What is Yakzee?
Yakzee is a PSVita version of the American dice game called Yahtzee. The main goal of the game is to score points by rolling five dice to make certain combinations.
As with dragaron’s homebrew games (like Sudorku and others), it’s very well made and has the following features:
- Touch screen controls that work flawlessly.
- The ability to play against 3 opponents. These are the CPU, another player or a Ghost opponent. The ghost opponent is a recording of your highest score while playing that mode.
- You may also change the name or picture of any player by touching their player picture.
- The main player’s records (wins, draws and losses) are updated regardless of the op
ponent you play against.
- Something that I personally think is cool is that you have to shake the PSVita itself to roll the dice!
As you can see from the screenshots, this is a pretty well-made hombrew game and you may also change the colour scheme like in other homebrew from the same developer.
That being said, I personally wasn’t able to test the game out a lot since I’ve never ever heard of Yahtzee. Maybe dragaron should focus on more popular games such as Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Monopoly and the lot so that his hard work could be enjoyed by a much wider audience.
How do I get it?
To get it, simply download the VPK from the link below and install it from VitaShell. For no justified reason, Yakzee requires extended (unsafe) permissions so make sure you get it from a safe source.
Unfortunately, this homebrew will never be on VitaDB since it uses ONElua as its interpreter and Rinnegatamante has decided against hosting ONElua homebrew since there are some issues with its licensing.
If you have any issues, report them to dragaron on the GitHub link below.

N.B: I know that this homebrew was released about a dozen days ago but I was only informed of its existence a few days ago by its author so that’s why the article is here late.
First! Yahtzee is a good classic game, roll those dice! Awesome release, I will enjoy Yakzee. great that more than one local person can play it. Thank you for the homebrew. Vita scene is awesome.
Thanks for the appreciation, Lennyvita! Gets me motivated for whatever is next. I’ll try to remain active in developing PS Vita homebrew.
