PS4HEN: Homebrew ENabler released for PS4 4.05
The PS4 scene has made tremendous progress over the past 48h, which could almost be followed live as multiple developers worked to implement flat_z’s writeup on package support for PS4.
One of the outcomes of this work, as of today, is a Homebrew ENabler (HEN) for PS4 4.05, fittingly named PS4HEN, and released by developer wildcard.
Download and run PS4HEN
You can download a precompiled binary payload here (source playstationhax), or get the source directly here.
This is a payload that you need to run on your PS4 4.05 using the same method we’ve described here. A full tutorial can be found over at playstationhax, but we’re outlining the main steps below (images below shamelessly taken from Thibobo’s tutorial). Specifically, to install and run a homebrew you need to:
- Run the PS4HEN Payload
- Put your homebrew (example here, source playstationhax) at the root of an external usb fat32 hard drive
- Disable your internet connection (people mention a risk that the package installer would like to download and install the latest firmware)
- Install the homebrew through Package installer
- Run the homebrew like any regular app
