Labyrinth 3D updated to version 1.4 – Better performance while navigating through eerie mazes!
With the hard work of many developers, the Vita continues getting more interesting homebrew but some developers also spend time perfecting and updating their previous releases. This time around, Rinnegatamante has updated Labyrinth 3D, a first person maze game, to version 1.4.
What is Labyrinth 3D?
As the name suggests, this homebrew game is a maze game but it’s not like the usual 2D games (the ones in which you have to navigate through a series of lines to get to the exit) that you may be accustomed to. As per its title, this game uses a 3D engine to render the mazes and it’s in a first person perspective which makes much more immersive.
Even though it might not be the game’s aim, it still gives off an eerie feeling of DOS-era dungeon crawlers!
If you’re a fan of DOS-era dungeon crawler games, this will surely interest you since it gives off that similar eerie-feeling but this one doesn’t have enemies so you’re just looking for your way out of the maze instead of fighting enemies (although with some work and interest, it could probably be turned into a fully featured dungeon crawler game). The game engine used is RayCast3D which is a ray-casting engine, like the one used in Wolfenstein 3D, in which a 3D game is generated from a 2D map; this technique lets you achieve decent looking games with less effort and processing power!
It’s also important to note that the game uses a mathematical algorithm to create mazes so you’ll never run out of mazes to beat!
What got updated in Labyrinth 3D version 1.4?
Labyrinth 3D 1.4 brings about the following:
- Game performance was improved so that you could enjoy a smoother experience.
- LPP and the RayCast3D engine were updated to their latest nightlies so that there are less bugs.
- You may now skip the opening credits by pressing ‘START’.
- When entering a seed number, you are now presented with the official Vita keyboard rather than the clunky old seed keyboard.
- Some bug fixes
When inserting the seed number, you can now use the native Sony keypad.
If you already have this game, it’s recommended you update it to get an even better experience.
