Deductive reasoning would suggest that this update is either to patch an exploit or to patch the previous means, used to monitor exploit usage.

If the said exploit was not patched even with sony having knowledge of the exploit, it would suggest it is not that easy to patch. To then release an update this far into a system cycle would suggest they have instead updated their snooping ability and plan on banning cfw users across the board.

Many have been using ps3 cfw for years online, without worry. If your not cheating, modifying game/save data or running unstealthed ( homebrew with legit title id), most have had endless years of worry free online play.

I’m suggesting all cfw users, have a little break from online activity, until we dig into the new firmware deeper and see exactly what has chaged.

Is there a long wait till moleculen exploit?

    • Popcorn says:

probably, vita took months to fully be able hack it and do stuff with it.

I’d agree but in this case the PS3 homebrew scene is already huge. So, anyone with a newer PS3 that cannot be downgraded to 3.55 may be in for a longer wait (even still I’d guess that a lot of Homebrew that work on CFW could just be used once the HEN is released) those of us with models that can be downgraded will just downgrade, install latest CFW, and enjoy all of the already existing Homebrew.

Thats not really the point man, way to abuse the system. The benfit i see is patching backups, to play in english and playing psp backups. We are not talking about the nes or heck even the ps1, the ps3 is new enough and the games are cheap enough, get off your sorry but and get a job.

      • Daan says:

Wow your stupid bob PSP Backups today we can do that in Ps Vita the only useful on this topic is we can downgrade the PS3 that allows to CFW your half on your sentence is correct except the PSP thing but the one you reply with are more abuser and clearly he loves being a pirate to begin with

        • Bob says:

So what you don’t understand is that the ps3 had better upscaling as compared to the vita tv, significantly so.

Just like on the PSP. After one (or more) year, update 6.61 came out without fixes for any exploits. It might be the same case on the PS3 ^^
