Everything you need to know about the closure of Miiverse
Back in 2012, Miiverse was launched, and in 2017, it’s closing. It’s closing date for Japan is November 8th but the dates for other regions are unknown. First released on Wii U, the platform has grown with a great community of helpful gamer’s and developers. With over 100 games, it will be missed by all of the community. But in my opinion, I think they should have ended it a bit sooner.
What does this mean for the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo have confirmed that Miiverse is not going to be made for the Switch, as it has Social Media functions, such as posting screenshots to Facebook or Twitter. This means that there will be no use for Miiverse. They also confirmed that they won’t be removing Mii’s, but they are already on the Switch, so this was quite obvious.
What this means for games that support Miiverse
On games that support Miiverse (Super Mario Bros U, Super Smash Bros Brawl etc.), the features will act as if they don’t exist. Here is an example on Super Mario Bros.
On the Miiverse stage on Smash Bros, the Miiverse post’s will not show, since they will not exist anymore, and will make the stage very blank. On Badge Arcade for the 3DS, you won’t be able to get your Home Menu featured in the Arcade, since the Home Menu pictures are posted to the Badge Arcade Miiverse Page. Super Mario Maker will receive an update so players can still share levels on the game.
The error codes
Once Miiverse has shut down, the following error codes will show. For the Wii U it’s 115-5004 and for the 3DS it’s 015-5004, as you can see in the Photo below.
Is it possible to save posts you like?
You cannot save anybody’s posts but your own. I’m not sure what format it’s in since I haven’t tried it yet, but at least you can save them for safekeeping. Visit https://miiverse.nintendo.net/ and click on the banner near the top that says “Information on Downloading Your Post History.” You will need to be logged in to do this.
That’s all really but if you want more information, you can visit the links in the sources section below

“But in my opinion, I think they should have ended it a bit sooner.” – *** that, it’s 2 bit images and strings, it’s going to make so make *** like finding all the stamps in SM3DW useless. The character of games which incorporated Miiverse is irrevocably harmed so Nintendo, who we all know could afford to run the servers forever, can save money. My WiiU is still hooked up, the Switch library doesn’t compare and this makes games worse. Terrible decisions from Nintendo, as usual.
won’t miss it
I work for no. The same closing date is true for noa. It was sent out yesterday.
First line, “…it’s closing. It’s closing date….” should be “….it’s closing. Its closing date….”
That was the first thing that I noticed too. The grammar on this site atrocious, kills credibility to a degree.
Says the one that doesn’t properly format a sentence… -_-
Sorry about that
The features are advertised on the box.. I’m not sure if this does not hit legal Ground… I may have bought the Wii U because i really like miiverse and online features..
good luck on that….
it’s not like i’m doing anything about it, but there was once a law suite regrading PS3 Other OS and also something on the vita if i remember correctly
Smash Bros for Wii U and 3DS, not Brawl.
Sorry about that
