taiHENkaku updated to Beta 5! Here comes the stability.
In a month that pretty much started with the announcement and release of the taiHEN framework and taiHENkaku, it seems only fitting that one of the last major news pieces of the month is also on the same subject.
Yifan Lu has updated his GitHub gist with information pertaining the release of the Beta 5 for taiHen/TaiHENkaku. What we’re looking at in this latest Beta however is nothing more than a stability update for the most part. It might be the only time that I agree that something relating to the PS Vita needed more stability. Anyone who has tried using the betas for taiHENkaku until now (how could you not since Adrenaline needs it) has had the great barrier of the PS Vita freeze. Hopefully with this latest update, we will be able to use taiHENkaku with less annoying crashes.
As usual however, Yifan’s warning still applies:
If you are not interested in helping test the beta, we recommend that you stick with the old stable release at (https://henkaku.xyz/) instead. To update the beta, reboot and visit http://beta.henkaku.xyz/ from your Vita’s browser. To remove the beta, delete molecularShell, reboot, and visit https://henkaku.xyz/ instead.
What is taiHENkaku?
In case you missed the original annoucement, taiHENkaku is the new version of our favorite “homebrew loader” ported to the new taiHEN framework that Team Molecule have been working on since the original HENkaku release. While it turns HENkaku into a fully-fledged custom firmware, it is currently in beta state and it is not recommended you update right away, unless you are willing to help beta test.
Changelog for taiHENkaku Beta 5
New Features
- Rewrote the kernel payload and installer. Installer should be more stable now.
- Add ability to update HENkaku config and taiHEN config.txt without needing a reboot. VitaShell needs to be updated to use this feature though.
- Fixed some hooking issues in taiHEN
Missing/Known Issues
- PSN spoofing no longer works. This might be fixed in the future, but is currently low priority.
- molecularShell now only shows
ux0:
and only part of it. This is part of the move to molecularShell being a safe homebrew while VitaShell has full powers. Please install VitaShell manually to access other partitions moving forward.- If yu build the offline installer yourself and point it to beta.henkaku.xyz, you can use offline mode. The release builds will always point to HENkaku stable.
Download the taiHENkaku Beta
To update your PS Vita console to the latest version of taiHENkaku, point your Vita browser to the http://beta.henkaku.xyz/ address and it will install itself. In case you want to downgrade back to HENkaku R6 because you don’t feel the current version of taiHENkaku isn’t stable/compatible enough for you, just reboot your Vita and then open the normal address https://henkaku.xyz/ to go back to the older, stable version. If you want to have both and switch freely between then, try using SwitchKaku!
Happy tinkering everyone!

Getting error 80871007 trying to install any vpk with this new beta.
You should report it here: https://github.com/henkaku/henkaku/issues so that they can work to fix it 🙂
Great to see things moving ahead. Although, I haven’t had any issues with the Beta releases yet.
Keep up the good work….. Watching in awe.
Spoke too soon. Adrenaline ISO loading is dead. 🙁
Estou com problemas com ftp cliente ele não conecta no meu vita antes até conectava agora não mais tentei outros ftp cliente e nada alguem com mesmo problema que eu ??
cant connect to ftp using this new taiHen in vitaShell 🙁 and also QCMA if taiHen is installed
Did you enable unsafe homebrew? If not:
Instal tai, open molecular, press start, enable unsafe homebrew, reboot, install tai, done.
Great, I will try it immedietly
Still waiting for psn spoofing lol, can’t install adrenaline without it
n00b.
Download it on your PS3 and then move it ^-^
After the update I’m now unable to access the ux0:/pspemu folder via any app. For example the adrenaline easy installer also can’t find any psp games :S. Do others also have this problem with this version 😕
Can see via Vitashell, but seems to break Adrenaline in some areas. ISO files still show in the XMB, but launching them gives error 8002012a, I think.
Yes I have had that error before the pspemu disappeared. I fixed it by installing the second to last build Henkaku. Most of the time I got an error with email not existing it drove me insane.
The problem i mentioned arised because i forgott to turn on “use unsafe hombrew” config in molecularshell after installing the newer version :S (#fail). Otherwise all works as before. I can also start iso’s files as before.
I was disappointed to see my firmware become 3.61 with taihenkaku but powered it off and restarted only only to see it back to 3.60 .Scary stability update for beta users.
Can’t install. It keeps giving an error mesage after the clean up stage.
me to
me too
delete molecule and switchkaku and then install taihen from browser .i had same problem.worked for me.
also delete tai folder
PSN Spoofing worked for me :O
Can someone please convince me to stay on Firmware 3.60… I don’t pirate games, I use emulators on my phone. I have SAO Hollow Realisation sitting next to me, unable to play due to it requiring FW 3.61… I haven’t seen anything come out of this TaiHENkaku.. But please prove me wrong if I am xD
I want to update but I want to stay at the same time lol. Should I stay on 3.60 and hope this “CFW” actually goes somewhere or….?
Sorry if my question is stupid but… is there any plan to update taihenkaku for 3.61? Or should I already give up on running homebrew on my 3.61 Vita? ‘Cause if that’s the case I guess I should just continue updating it anyway…
