Developer TheFloW gets access to the PSP Emulator on PS Vita, asks for PSP hackers help
Developer TheFloW announced that he has gained access to the PSP emulator on the PS Vita. Given that HENkaku gives us full access to the PS Vita, this was not a question of “if” but “when”. And of course, who else but TheFloW at this point?
The hacker has shared minimal details so far, but shared a video proof of concept showing he has control at least of some input/output functions in the emulators. He anecdotally mentioned that the GPU of the PS Vita runs at 41MHz in PSP mode, and that it should be easy to add support for the second analog stick and touch.
More importantly, TheFloW mentioned that he has limited time to work on this, and is asking for help from experienced PSP hackers. In an ideal world, the people behind popular custom firmwares such as ARK (PSP Custom firmware running on the PS Vita) or TN-HEN would come back and help, but many hackers of the PSP/ePSP scene have moved on so this might be wishful thinking.
Gaining access to the PSP emulator on the PS vita would allow support for PSP backups, plugins, and of course homebrews without some of the limitations coming from VHBL. Of course, this assumes someone has enough interest in this to help TheFloW.

The problem is that the memory is too expensive… in Canada, it costs more to buy a 32gb memory card than a PSVita (you could buy 2.5 vita TVs).
I wonder if there is any hope on the horizon for better storage options for all the fantastic content we’re getting.
You’re right PSVITA Memory card is too Expensive.
Yeah, I picked up my PS TV at Walmart for $30, but a 64 GB memory card would cost me about $150.
That’s because the PSTV got cancelled almost immediately after launch and they’re trying to get rid of them. A new Vita is still going to cost you somewhere around $150-$200. And the memory cards are so damn expensive because Sony is the only one making them, and the market for them is limited to Vita/PSTV owners. So no, you’re never going to see a reasonably-priced memory card. I paid more for my 32GB card than I did for my NIB launch model Vita (a friend wanted a PS4 day one, and the only way he could get one was to buy it bundled with a Vita, which he sold to me for $50).
So yeah, suck it up and get a card or quit complaining, because it isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand why the Vita memory cards are so expensive, and I never ever ever expect them to go for less. My comment was just pointing out the ridiculous disparity between the price of the card I wanna get and the price of the hardware I’m gonna use it in.
Sure, I’m gonna have to “suck it up” and get a bigger card eventually; I don’t have much of a choice if I want to get the full benefit of having HENkaku on my PS TV. But I’m also vocally unhappy at having to put up with Sony’s proprietary nonsense.
Well maybe Sony could.. uh… just use Micro SD like Nintendo is doing with the 3DS? That will solve the problem of “market for them is limited to Vita/PSTV owners”
Oh wait, yeah, Sony just wanted to milk money out of proprietary ***.
The problem is the memory card?
Is that the main problem with accessing the ePSP emulator on the Vita?
the memory card is the obstacle needed to gain access to the PSP emulator on the PS Vita?
what he meant is that we won’t have enough space to store ps vita games and psp games due to overpriced memory crads!
Una!!! Sa lahat
Fist!!!!
try again madafaka
ROFL!
Is that a next friday reference?
Love Fist!
Glorious!! Been waiting for something like this. Cheers TheFloW 🙂

First
I’m really hope to could modify pspemu and enhancing resolution to could play psp games on hd like ppsspp does. It’ll be great idea indeed.
Also I have great news retroarch project could finally get pcsx core working on vita just see this link:
http://hackinformer.com/2016/09/24/retroarch-pcsx-rearmed-working-vita-vpk-ps1/
The PS Vita’s video resolution is not HD.
I’m sure he meant native resolution, rather than HD. He just didn’t think of the best possible way to describe it. 🙂
At last, First?
Nope, you were 22nd and three hours too late. XD
good job
Awesome.
Can’t wait. Then I’ll update my 3.10 Vita as there will be no reason to stay
Finally been waiting for this news as I got few ps1 games I wanna replay
Yeah I mean native vita resolution. (960 x 544) I meant to could play psp games on native vita screen. Without any sucks pixelated on current psp games on vita. Just imagine. Amazing isn’t it?
About pcsx core on vita. Ps1 games on retroarch also will be run on native vita screen (960 x 544) resolution. Which is much clearer than native ps1 emu on vita.
YEEEESSS PLEASE!! With this the vita hacking scene will be dam near complete, aside from a full cfw/permanent henkaku patch and some more cool homebrews, I expect nothing more out of the vita and can happily call it a hacking success
Someone help him please, this is just awesome!
can someone create a microsd adapter for Psvita?…..
I don’t think that would even fit, dude.
I finally feel like a have a state of the art price of equiptment in my hands! Thank you The Flow and everyone that is working hard on this scene.
I agree. We should be able to have full control of a device that we paid for and own. I will totally donate money for this if someone makes a eCFW.
NINTENDO 64….? 4 CORES
this is the only thing preventing me from bumping up from 3.18. thank you
very exciting news, thank you TheFloW, You have made the vita a decent console.
Yeah please help him
I miss qwikrazor … how amazing would it be if he came back to work on this!
I’m actually less interested in PS Vita backups than I am in PSP backups, go figure.
I would buy a PS Vita just for this. It just doesn’t feel like a complete machine without the PSP side of it.
Same here, but I’d add PSX to your statement.
+1 still on 3.18 because of this
A while back I managed to get a 64GB Vita memory card from Amazon for about $45 as they had a promotion if you opened up an Amazon Store Card you would get a $50 Store Credit. Best $45 I ever spent but even 64GB is too small to store all of my games.
It would be really nice to be able to play those PSOne and PSP games that Sony blocks you from installing and playing on the Vita. Sure I can play them on my PS3 but I’d like to play them on the go.
