VitaOrganizer 0.3, install VPKs via FTP
Are you one of those people who has cursed their luck because of Sony’s greed and their need to overprice memory cards for the Vita? Do you wish you could have more games on your Vita, but the fact you need to have double the space is a no-no? Well apparently it is your lucky day: developer soywiz has released version 0.3 of his nifty little tool called VitaOrganizer! What does it do? Well as the developer himself says:
Desktop tool for listing and uploading games and homebrew applications to PSVITA without the size requirements of uploading the whole VPK and extracting it later.
Other features the developer doesn’t list include telling you if a VPK is or not installed while connected over FTP and the ability to tell if a VPK is or not secure.
The kicker? Since it’s written in Java it should work on any operating system and comes compiled as a .jar file (gotta love cross-platform compatibility). While I splashed the cash early in my Vita ownership and got myself a 64GB card from Japan (secret: it’s not big enough!) this should certainly be useful for people who have sub-16GB cards. Plus having a GUI-application specifically for organizing your VPKs easily and pushing them directly into your Vita is also quite useful.
This is the changelog for version o.3:
- Fixes size of games in psvita (please delete vitaorganizer/cache folder)
- Fixed paths in windows
- Allow column sorting
- Improved error reporting
Download VitaOrganizer
To download VitaOrganizer all you have to do is head over to the developer’s github and grab the latest release. If you want to thank him for his hard work, you can head over to the reddit thread.
If possible, I’d like you guys guys in the comment section to fulfill my curiosity: do you have small memory cards? How big are the cards you own? I’m curious really. In my case I have a 16GB and 64GB. Used to have a 8GB one but it’s long gone MIA.
Anyway as usual everyone, enjoy the release and happy gaming!

First!, thank you so much for this this app, so useful!
first
I got two 8GB. Not loving it.
got 64gb, 2 pcs 4gb and long gone 8gb too
16GB. Used to be plenty of space because all my games were on cartridges so I had games’ updates, Diva edits, a few songs/videos and PSP isos/emus+roms.
Now I have about half of that card usable for VPK Vita games, the rest of the space being taken by emulation, game updates, etc… It’s not too much but I mostly needed it for the indies as I have almost all big games I wanted on cartridges.
There’s still no way to play unlicensed PSP/PS1 games with henkaku, right? I’ve got a couple of games on my JPN account I want to play (VCIII, Einhander, Shiritsu no Gakuen (1 and 2) ) that isn’t possible without TN-V/TN-X, AFAIK. Keep on going guys!
still on 3.18 for exact that reason. no psp or ps1 henkaku isnt worth it for me.
i own a 8, 16, 32 and 64 gb memcard i use the 32 gb for pstv (ps1 games) 64 gb for psp and vita games on vita.
16 gb for my son and kid friendly games on pstv and 8 gb i dont use it but it also has some ps1 games on it
Not worth it to you to play the games it was natively made for? Get a psp if you want psx/psp. I have 256gb in my 3000 model with a photofast adapter.
I have a 16GB and 64GB like yourself, Typhoon. Plenty of space. Got well over 30 PS1 games, over 10 PSP games, and a Vita game on the 64GB, and still have about 40GB left. Don’t see how you can fill a 64GB card so fast, especially if you’re smart and go physical where you can.
PS Plus games. they fill up 64GB card fast.
I don’t really go physical much. It’s way cheaper for me to go for digital US (being an EU resident). I usually import my physicals from a Canadian store when I want the SE or something around those lines.
I just don’t like carrying the carts around with me 😛
I have a 16g.nice tool
I have a 16Gb card screw those who always write first, you look like children fighting for the first place in the car.
Can he atleast have a tool that somehow put it in a QCMA backup sense he can make VPK installed via FTP but having a 4gb size games take to long. Better if possible have a tool that somehow can put it in QCMA backup so that upload to PSvita is faster probably
I still have my 8gb I got as a bonus for buying Vita itself. Not as comfortable as I would like it to be but pretty tolerable. Especially for it’s $0 price. After all, Vita cards are way to pricey.
8gb that came with my vita tv & I’m staying with it ’cause I don’t feel comfortable purchasing a card that costs more than the console (lego bundle 60 usd).
16gb costs $35 new on amazon.
8gig one 🙁
I’ve got a 4gb and 8gb 🙁 really need a larger one!
I have a 32GB card, which is surprisingly small (way too small) because my 64GB died within 2 years.
I have a 64gb 32g2g 16g2g and an 8gb. Its safe to say I have enough memory
We have at home two vitas with 32GB each and a PsTV with 16GB, and then a couple 8GBs and 4GBs spare just in case. The 32GB cards are relatively easy to find in 2nd hand shops and they have enough room to carry around many games.
Great app it’s a little slow but I think you done a sterling job Im well impressed thanks so so much the scene is alive and kicking
I own a 16GB card. It’s terrible! There were some pretty good PSN discounts in the past. But I didn’t buy the digital games because I had way too less memory and definitely do not want to spend about 100 bucks for just 64GB. To be honest that is one of the main reasons why I slowly got frustrated and stopped using my Vita in the first place. Now with the active community I revived my Vita and I am getting frustrated again because I have no space. It drives me crazy!
i have 4 ,16 gb that i bought during black friday @gamestop
I have a 8GB card that came with the vita, probably stay this way since they are just to damn expensive, heck I got a 128GB SD card for way less on black Friday.
great tool love it
I bought a 32GB card after realizing I couldn’t do anything without a memory card. Paid far too much at gamestop (over $80 iirc)
Wow. That’s how much it cost me to import my 64GB from Japan O_O *** Gamestop
I had an 8GB and a 16Gb for my Vita when they first came out, and I’ve since lost the 16GB one. I now have a second 8GB one that came with the PS TV I went out and bought once Henkaku blew up a couple weeks ago.
I Have 2 4GB definitely not big enough !!!
I have a 64GB,2 pcs 16GB 2pcs 4GB ,1 32GB and 1 8GB. Never enough memory LOL.
Just like i got a 512GB micro sd card for my phone.
Then u have a fake 512 GB Micro SD card. They only come in at 256GB max at the moment in Micro SD format. Only Regular SD can be bought at 512GB.
mine is always 4 gig… sad story, it can only store 1 game if the game have more than 2 gig
Using 8GB. Since I always change the game its really not enough.
Nice but FTP is too slow. Going to take about 2 days to install Sky collection to my Vita. There needs to be a USB way to speed things up.
Am I the only one having trouble using this.
0.4 is out now
I’ve got a 16GB card that I bought after I searched the whole house for my 8GB card….still don’t know where that card is…I found about 7 or 8 MicroSD cards while searching for the 8GB Vita one………i’d rather lose the MicroSD cards…they’re cheap! If I can find a good deal on another 16GB or even a 32GB Vita memory card, I might snatch that up…..maybe Black Friday sales? (doubt it since the Vita isn’t really relevant anymore)
I have a 4gb and a 8gb shader betwen PSVita and pstv.And 5 physical games
new VitaOrganizer version 0.4 is out go and grab it
I bought a Vita off eBay that came with a 64GB card. I resold the Vita and games separately, making a small profit, which sort of means I got paid just over twenty quid for taking the 64GB, even after the eBay and Paypal fees. Sweet 🙂
Java Heap Space Error Simulator 0.4
Can’t wait for 0.5.
Doesn’t work worth a *** for me. Some damn Java heap error. Good effort by the developer, but I believe I’ll stick with reliable QCMA or Filezilla.
wow, this is great. Thank you
java heap error on large files i.e. more than 2GB
