FIrst haha and im totally siked for this

The financial damage, in my opinion, is way more significant here as the Vita is still “current gen" ???? Really? There are no games.. how can this hack be a problem for Sony, they don’t sell games, because there are no games. The vita is an empty shell. Even if you crack/hack games, nobody will care as there a no titles to play that you can’t find for 5-10$ if you want, because nobody care. The only good news is emulation for this console. Piracy should have came the anniversary year of the Vita to help Sony boost console sales. That’s it. More console more developpers and people still buy the same amount of games per year 2-3.. That wouldn’t change, but gives interest in the scene just like it boosted XBOX360 and PSP and Wii. We bought the games, we received the games at Christmas, live Card as a gift to buy online games.. but the budget always been for 2-3 games a year, the rest is “try me” and if it’s good and I don’t want to play cat and mouse with updates and ***, I’ll buy it. It’s a like a song, it’s on the radio, it’s free.. I will buy with my budget couple of songs a year no matter what. Piracy is good for the brand, it’s auto-publicity. In this case, sorry but it’s way toooo late for the Vita. How wants to play Jap games that nobody understand? We want NHL, NFL, CastleVania, GTA, where are those titles? This is what I am talking about.

    • There are no games, really?! What kind of ignorant and stupid comment this is? It has around 1,000 PlayStation titles! Stop talking nonsense and spreading false information.

“The vita is an empty shell. Even if you crack/hack games, nobody will care as there a no titles to play that you can’t find for 5-10$ if you want, because nobody care.”

      > A lot of people care, maybe just you don’t care! Get a grip.

      • MJ360

Its not ignorant actually. Most Vita games in western countries are “Multiplats” All the exclusives are launch titles and to add more jelly to the sandwich the other half of games are jpn ported. Yes Western countries have no Vita games only Japan does. If anything piracy would hurt the Jpn developers thus we get no more ported games

    • Blah.. blah.. blah.

    • Thormaximus

I could not agree more with this statement. My Vita has been sitting in my closet for nearly eight months since there no games to play.

      • TheTechDoc

there are hundreds of games to play, theres just not a lot you are willing to pay for, I highly doubt you have every single vita game

        • thormaximus

that was implied in my statement. Hence the reason as to why the Vita was declared a legacy system. No new decent games out for it in a while.

    • Ricky D

Sony has openly called the Vita a ‘legacy console’ which means it’s dead. Officially dead.

  3. 2big4tv

Great work TheFloW in what you have done and i for one have been waiting alooooong time for the Vita to be hacked and to be able to play both psp backup games and vita backup games.. but now waiting for a way round to keep the vita in its hacked state once rebooted without having to keep having to install HENkaku everytime a reboot or shutdown has been done on this handheld…. also to be able to play psp games/backups. Again thanks for all the work you have put into this to make it happen 😉 you got my support throughout

  4. Sailor Moon

If only I could get Dragon Quest Builders to dump and run on this *_*; I would love to play it with the overclock settings; maybe that would help it run as smooth as the PS4 version.

  5. p0ng

I am very happy with everything that is happening on the PS Vita. I was resigned to see a device can either be left aside.

  6. jamski

eagerly waiting to thank the flow(& his team) and the wololo site for their very kind and generous early christmas gift 🙂

  7. ogogo

i wonder if we will be able to use this method to play games wich are higher than 3.60 like in 2 months World of Final Fantasy

  9. Pirate Cat

I’d say that this is much more comparable to ISO Tool than CFW. Any word on if the CPU speed plugin will be made available as a standalone?

    • AbsoluteZERO

It is available as a stand alone plugin.

      • Casavult

I think he means it being used outside of Vitamin itself. From what I remember, the plugin only works in conjunction with Vitamin.

From the readme.txt: “…The plugin will only work with games that have been dumped with Vitamin…”

        • hector

not really, i think he meant decrypted game, as no way a legit game accept un-encrypted .suprx

        • Pirate Cat

Thanks for that. I have yet to do anything beyond install Henkaku on my VTV while I wait for things to progress.

    • anonanon

Almost certainly not. The very fact that you need to dump a game with Vitamin for the plugin to work shows that Vitamin must do something top the game to allow the changing of the cpu frequency, or to allow plugins to be run alongside the game. Whether this is a modification of a file, or just the fact that the game is unencrypted.

Awesome job, it’s impressive that TheFloW is continuing support!

As happy as I am that vitamin was released, I feel like the homebrew scene is dead now for vita.. I mean why bother when piracy is a thing right? I hope more emulators and cool mods/ homebrew apps come but it seems unlikely now…maybe TNV or similar but again thats just more piracy.

    • Adam Fox

Homebrew is great and all, but have you noticed that a lot of home-brew is the same across systems? Emulators, Doom, ports of games like Angry Birds…granted there are a few homebrews that are awesome and unique…but honestly, who bought a Vita hoping that some day they could play Atari 2600 games on it when they could do that with a PSP or their smartphone or a tablet?

      • thousandyoung

Where is the homebrew to stream games, take screenshots in-game or transfer/show any file through usb. Actual useful stuff lol.

        • TheTechDoc

I agree adam fox, but the psp had many amazing homebrews that were totally unique, the vita is muuuch more powerful than the psp, I could see some amazing homebrews coming, I mean we already have vitapad and moonlight (im loving the *** out of moonlight on vita atm) but more stuff could come such as an android port or even linux (if they can run linux on 3ds they can run it on vita lol) and it seems like now that piracy is a thing, homebrew wont really continue, at least not till the piracy hype dies down.

also Thousandyoung, streaming games is already out (moonlight for ps vita) taking screenshots is built into the system (select and ps button) but I agree there needs to be a way to transfer directly through usb rather than ftp

    • Jesse

You’re missing the all-important part that is this – piracy givees a device more exposure and makes the device more desirable. The more users of a homebrew-enabled device gets more developer attention.

    • Jack Attack

lol… Homebrew takes time to develop, especially for a largely undocumented system…

I’d expect the simpler emulators to eventually get updates but this is a hobby for people, not a business. Also, breaking a system apart DOES HELP homebrew developers. It can teach them how the Vita accesses certain things and will allow them the same. Vita piracy is different than past piracy attempts in which you just break one aspect and you’re basically home free. So it does have a mutually beneficial aspect to it.

There’s plenty of emulators that are decent and allow you to port them. So go put up or shut up. You’ll find it isn’t exactly easy porting software, let alone creating it from scratch.

This isn’t taking anything away from homebrew other than giving us news to feed on while there hasn’t been much on homebrew since week 2 of henkaku.

    • ZeroSbr

Piracy will help unit sales, but might scare some devs off. I don’t get how you can even think that the homebrew scene for the Vita is dead now. It just started.

  13. Raul Ovares

    Hmm first?

  14. Jesse

You really shouldn’t use the same picture for news releases that are so close together. At first glance, I had thought I had read the current-most story and if I hadn’t scrolled down, I wouldn’t have seen everything else.

  15. 1234

Molecule Team and TeamFreak are PS Vita saviors!

  19. NeonAera

TheFlow, you are the MAN! Big props to you buddy. Man, I wonder if a CP3 emulator on PSVita would happen.. Imagine SFIII 3rd Strike on PSVita to-go? Sick awesome.

  20. Kulot

    3.61 hack please

    • Jesse

Why the heck would anyone update? I keep seeing this around like it hasn’t been a known thing not to update device firmware if you ever want any exploits to work. Mine was on 3.18 when I finally installed 3.60.

    • Casavult

      @ Kulot: Get searching.

    • kublai

My PSVita is running much more stable with v3.6.1 now

      • Gr33k

What’s the differences between 3.60 and 3.61 that are more stable to you? I have no issues with 3.60 myself…Did you format/replace your memory card on 3.61 perhaps? That could result in a more stable experience itself, vs the firmware change.

I realllllllly doubt that Sony really fixed much in 3.61 other than obviously patching the exploit. The change log has nothing notable in it as well. But hey – it IS nice that it’s working better for ya! Just….no Henkaku… ;(

  21. Taconado

    Yup this is Awesome!

  22. BleepBloop

alright this guy more than deserved a donation from me. will be sending one his way once I get off work in a few hours.

  23. RPRezo

I, for one, think this program is amazing. And if anything can help revitalize Vita – it is Vitamin. Piracy won’t do much for a mostly obsolite system, yet there is a chance for things like fan-made translations now. And his is fantastic, seeing how most of the new games on Vita now are from Japan and most of them are kept untranslated.

That said, probably even Vitamin won’t change a thing. But at least it’s a chance.

    • froid_san

i’m one of those who do fan translations and will definitely do some on the vita some day.

I know it’s still a long way since we can’t yean decrypt/encrypt eboot/suprx of retail games to elf/velf for modding purposes

  24. lol

All the kids are jumping around happy and clapping their hands……….wait for the smallest things to go wrong and turn on u like a crazy angry mob.

  25. troll

great work theflow!!! so happy that I decided to cling into my psvita 😉 now we just need a monster hunter online dump with an English patch…. :^)

  26. bigbow

well i have a fat vita and a pstv and the /ur0:/app folder is only on the TV so i think that that is the internal storage

  27. bigbow

    wrong page sorry

  28. Zeke

Impressive! Out of the four retail games I’ve tested with Vitamin 1.0/1.1 I have GoW Collection, Rayman Origins and NFS Most Wanted. MGS Collection doesn’t work (dumps but errors out to crash after VPK install). I’ve mentioned it to TheFloW and I’m guessing the “Killzone” update as I’ve nicknamed it will probably fix the issue. Really good piece of homebrew, a few user inputs aside it’s basically hands free.

  29. johan johansson

With Amphetamin We can overclock it to 444 mhz. is there any way to clock it higher than that?? the CPU is capable of 2 GHz

  30. LilGoober

So can someone help me out with this. does this only work to back up your game. or can i use it to transfer it to my other vita that has a jp account. i have 2 vita 1 with us account and 1 with jp account . can i install a game from 1 to the other or will there be a license problem

  31. 1234

Hmmm. .. Vitamin successfully backed up my Fifa 13 cartridge. I then used Molecule to install the game back and it seemed to be successful as well as I don’t see any error messages. But I didn’t see any Fifa 13 Bubble to launch the game afterwards…. Any idea? Is Fifa 13 support by Vitamin? If not, why it backed up the game successfully and Molecule installed it successfully as well?

  32. n774

Explain to me why if most people claim there are no games for the vita, those same people’re the first to beg for dozens of pirate copies on the usual places.Instead of the thing having no games it’s more like hypocrite kiddies refusing to buy games cause they still get an allowance from their parents.

Sure there aren’t tons of AA titles released monthly for the Vita’s library but over the years there’s been a good amount of fun or good games.

As someone who owns 2 Vitas and a TV and got his first one around 3.5 years ago, I own 62 games excluding plus ones. That’s close to 1.5 game per month and for a handheld that is plenty.

  33. Donald Trump

Isn’t that nice! I was just about to post in the forums about how Vitamin seems to work with less than half of the Vita games! I have attempted to dump Uncharted, Black Ops, and Borderlands and it failed every time!

It’s nice to hear that Flow is working on this, I can’t wait to dump my games.

  34. dev/null

Amazing news to close out my busy day. I got like a big grin on my face.

    Thank you, TheFlow. You-da-man!

  35. aneesh

    UNTESTED

  37. Albert Covington

With the exploit doing something similar on PS4, I’m wondering when we will see a similar process being done for those games.

    • Gr33k

Doubt it – the way vita launches games seems quite different from the ps4 – but that’s just my uneducated guess 😉 WOULD be nice tho…but even so – PS4 hack is userland not kernel access. So again – doubt it.
