Tutorial: Installing a VHBL Custom Bubble via HENkaku on Firmware 3.60!
While this is going to be redundant in the coming weeks, I would still like to show you how to install a good old VHBL Custom Bubble on your Playstation Vita running system software 3.60.
You only need the new PS Vita HEN (HENkaku) and a(ny) PSP game for this. A computer is required as well.
A few months ago we have shown you how to install Custom Bubbles on your Playstation Vita. Some of these bubbles were created with Major_Tom’s and mr.gas’ method, while some other bubbles were created with Qwikrazor87’s method.
While the most recent firmware patched the EML hack and the PSPemulator kernel mode exploits, it did not patch being able to run the VHBL on the PS Vita. This is still possible via undisclosed exploit games or simply via a Qwikrazor VHBL Custom Bubble.
HENkaku allows us to access the PS Vita’s memory card directly, which means that we can substitute the EML hack with HENkaku to set up a usermode Custom Bubble, such as the VHBL or PSPFiler.
I have created a tutorial in the past, which utilized the EML hack to let you install an ARK Custom Bubble. We can pretty much reuse this tutorial to install a VHBL Custom Bubble on our PS Vita.
The only difference will be that we do not use the EML hack to place a specific file onto our PS Vita, but HENkaku + FTP.
The required files for the VHBL Custom Bubble are available over here.
Either watch the video, or simply take a look at this short summary of things you have to do to get a VHBL Custom Bubble on your PS Vita (for advanced users!).
We need a random PSP game and use CMA to copy it onto our PC. Next we create a local copy of that PSP game just in case we mess up.
Next we run HENkaku on our PS Vita and start the FTP connection. Back on the PC we use FTP to connect to the Vita & copy the PBOOT.PBP file into the specific directory of our random PSP game (for example: /ux0:/pspemu/PSP/GAME/NPEH00020/).
Then we copy our random PSP game from our PS Vita to our PC. Next we copy our random PSP game from our PC to our PS Vita (we do this twice!).
The last step is to copy the VHBL savedata file from the PC to our PS Vita. This is it, the VHBL Bubble should be fully working.
Like I said, this is only a very short summary for people that know what they have to do.
If you do not know what you have to do, check out the video or take a look at the old tutorial that I’ve written a few months ago (substitute the obsolete EML/Email part with the HENkaku FTP transfer part).
It should be pretty easy to set up this Bubble, if you know what you are doing.
In the end I would like to thank Qwikrazor for his awesome Custom Bubble trick. Not only because it is so simple, but also because his ones are the easiest Custom Bubbles so far.
If you, like I do, want to show your appreciation to Qwikrazor, why not treat him to some cold drink, or even a hot meal? Just donate him a few bucks via Paypal, he really deserves it.
so you will not be able to access that UNO game anymore? (or until we restore the original backup?)
Followed all the steps but when I launch I get a white screen and then an error code c1-2858-3
Same here!! Any news?
I had the same, make sure you copied everything in the VHBL savedata folder correctly to the vita, then power off, hold R PSbutton and power to boot up the menu, rebuild the database and try again.
Man, try to get the VHBL01234 folder and put then in \Documents\PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\YOUR_ID. Then transfer the savedata. Works with me!!!
Rafael is GENIUS
Er…I’m a tad confused here. Me PS Vita has the 3.60 firmware. So, if I follow all these steps, is it actually going to be possible to run PS One ISOS or other emulators as well? Also, if I log out of me PSN account and turn off the auto-update setting, do I still got the risk of having me account banned?
Yaaarrrrrr!!!
A-ha-ha look your 00124VHBL folder must be in SAVEDTA!!! not in save/game_num_code when copy save data to vita it named VHBL not your game_number
Can’t add anyone emulator. Which folder it is? in VHBL config it ms0:/PSP/VHBL !? where is it?
Got another issue, how the heck do I put a PSP game on my Vita? They say u must be already using this emulatcalled 101 in 1 or sth like that. Watched dozens of videos and all of them come up with the same stuff. My PS Vita has nothing like that. Please help me, I’d really appreciate it
Please how can I install ps vita games from vhbl?
U can’t run PSP, only emulators and homebrew. How to install that? i’ll try ux0:/psp/game/UCJS101040001/install.zip 🙂 in save data folder /VHBL/
but it not work 😀
Vita 3.61 incoming! 🙁
After watching the video and refer to the email method, I still don’t know how to install it. Does it need a PSP game on vita cause I sure don’t have one.

You can use this technique which still works, you’ll need a friend with a hacked PS Vita: http://wololo.net/2016/07/19/vhbl-ps-vita-3-60/
I have HENkaku installed but when I connect my Vita to my PC using CMA, CMA says I have to update. I’ve tried OpenCMA and it still does not work. I’ve also tried QCMA and that gives me the error “could not connect to the PC”. I was wondering what I should do or if there are any other alternative ways to connecting my Vita to my PC.

Download these files, extract onto CMA folder and run the RUN.BAT (as admin with CMA closed). Just done..
I extracted those files into the CMA folder and ran the run.bat file as admin. I still receive the error “could not connect to the PC”.
Hi, i have 3.60 version, when i try to use Content manager i got a message: you must update your system software, what can i do….?
Just use these files to patch de CMA! Read the README! http://wololo.net/download.php?f=OpenCMA_r5.zip
thanks it works, just one more question, is any way to download games from PSN store….?
What did you do to get it working? I ran the bat file and redownloaded the xml and xpd then reran the bat file. It still asks me to update =\

I don’t understand. My PSP game (Pool Hall Pro) is renamed VHBL yes but do not have the VHBL icon. The savegame is copied at the right place like the video but when I open VHBL, it just opens a black screen then goes back to PS VIta menu. I must a forgotten a step somewhere.
I have the same issue.
I tried with a different game and it worked
did you make sure at the end when you are copying it back to the Vitra you copies it twice sounds that’s like what your bit doing
I´m not able to find a single psp demo on US psn servers, maybe sony got rid of them, which demo do you use ?
the psp minis are good for this?
I have everything done except the save data. When I attempt to copy it over, the VHBL file isn’t there. Any ideas?
nevermind I got it. Just refreshed everything basically.
hi evrybady
I have a problem is the same as Dmitry
Program Send The message Error “could’nt find any homebrew in ms0:/PSP/VHBL/”

Why redundant?
Vita 3.60 I got the VHBL bubble but when you go into it the start is still listed as pool hall pro. I have copied the program to the vita twice, I have copied the pboot making sure it was there and I have copied the vhbl using qcma. When I start the program it goes to a black screen then back to the vita screen, any suggestions.
