^Title. You CAN directly just put the MP4 or whatever file on your Vita(It supports many formats) but all you’ll get is a 720p/1080p video on the vita’s 544p resolution. That’s gotta be ugly.
So I’m gonna show you how to format those videos so that they look nicer on your vita screen.
NOTE:I couldn’t really find an up-to-date preset,So just follow through
- Get HandBrake converter and install it.
- Next go to Source>File>*Browse your video file*>Open
- Make sure the format is H.264(x264) and the H.264 level is 3’1 under ‘video’ and the ‘Container’ is MP4.
- Go to ‘Picture’ tab,Set ‘Anamorphic’ to None.Select the desired resolution and ‘Check’ the keep aspect ratio box.
For this tut. I’m going to convert a 1080p video so my desired resolution is 960×540 if I want to keep aspect ratio,If you don’t want to do that then just enter 960×544. - For dual audios go to ‘Audio’ Tab and select the track you want(Obviously skip if you have only 1 track). After that click ‘Mixdown’ and select ‘Stereo’
NOTE:You can also ADD a track but that’s up to you.You can also add a subtitles track under the subtitles tab,If you do so,Make sure you ‘Check’ the burned in box - Select the destination folder and start the encoding. After this you’ll have the encoded video file which you can transfer to your Vita Via CMA.
- Enjoy 😆

It’s great watching videos on my OLED Vita. :3
File size is too big don’t you think?
Size depends greatly on how long you want to spend encoding. It’s easier and faster to suck up more space and pump the bitrate and you won’t need to fine tune your settings.
Hey, thanks! Very usefull tutorial! PS Vita screen is fabulous for this kinda thing 😀
Back in 2012 I spent months trying to find a good converter to play videos on my Vita. In the end I found a decent one that had somewhat large files, but they were playable. These days I have a phone that plays most file types, and a Macbook that will play them too, but thanks for the tutorial. This will be useful to some people still.
yup and this is why the vita didn’t get traction….phones can pretty much do anything the vita can when it comes to this stuff.
i dont care about this stuff
where is the hack stuff
where is cobra black fin
go away troll. Non existent news can’t be pulled from thin air just to keep you happy. You want hack stuff then get off ur lazy a** and learn…otherwise *** and stop being so self entitled. *rant over*
Just Use the Network streaming Client (PSN) i watch movies and Series simple over my Network no Transfer to my VITA SD Card
that progeram is suck . trust me it have so many bugs
There used to be a better tutorial on subject posted here a few years ago, unfortunately finding it is a bit of a pain
I hope there’s another rejuvenate competition. Because if there is i’m entering.
We just sit here as our hard earned money collects dust!
Whoever wants the Vita to become an antique, say I!!!
Don’t you, want to see the Vita at its max extent?!
If we do not act now, than we all may never see the Vita as the way as it was intended, knowing this will be Sony’s LAST PORTABLE device!
I mean it not a big deal.
We could just do nothing…
Not me.
But….
I want ro get UP!
Push the Vita to its limits.
IT JUST FEELS RIGHT.
Waaaaah! What bitrate should I set the stereo audio to? I keep getting warbly noises in my headphones! Thank you for replyin if you do :D.
