How to redownload P.T. Silent Hills
Note from Wololo: This tutorial on How to Redownload P.T. Silent Hills was initially published by /Talk member Orangpelupa, as part of our monthly tutorial contest. OrangPelupa won the February/March mods award (a $10 PSN code) with this entry. You can find the original post here.
Note: The tutorial was initially published on our /talk forums in December 2015. The technique below has been confirmed to work at the time of re-publishing this in April 2016, and users have confirmed this still works, one year later, as of April 2017. It might stop working at some point. It also assumes you have access to a PSN account that had P.T. Silent Hills in your library at some point in the past, as you need your account to have a license for the game.
P.T. is a historical masterpiece from the minds of Hideo Kojima, Guillermo Del Toro, and Norman Reedus. It was swept away from PSN and no longer available for re-downloaded.
But you can re-download P.T. (Silent Hills) without hassle:
Quick guide
(recommended for those that know their ways with PC)
1. Download and install SUWI (check all options).
2. Set your PS4 to use your PC as proxy.
3. Download P.T. from Library 🙂

On Windows PC:
1. Download SUWI
2. Run Suwi R20110308.exe and check all options.
3. Download CheckIP
4. Open the zip file and run “Check IP.bat” to see your proxy IP address.
On PS4:
1. Go to NETWORK settings > Set up Internet Connection -> use LAN/WiFi > Custom > Automatic > Do not specify > Automatic > Automatic.
2. Now you are on PROXY screen, choose USE and type your proxy IP address with PORT 808.
3. Complete the network setting.
Download P.T. (Silent Hills) on PS4:
1. Go to DOWNLOAD notification.
2. If P.T. download error was there, press OPTIONS then DELETE (if its not there, you are OK).
3. Go to LIBRARY.
4. Choose P.T.
5. DOWNLOAD P.T.
The technical stuff
PlayStation 4 finds out where to download games by reading specific .JSON file. But because P.T. was wiped off PSN, PS4 don’t know where to download.
Googling around, turns out there’s a bunch of Redditors that has uploaded P.T. US version PKG but its missing the necessary .JSON file. Luckily there’s EU JSON file floating around and i modify it to work with P.T. US version.
My face made a big smile when I saw P.T. download progress bar slowly fills. But my smile quickly turned upside-down when the download stopped at 9MB. Thus i gave deeper look at the EU JSON and identified the following stuff:
Long story short, i modified the EU JSON with
- US PKG URL,
- US PKG SHA-1 hash,
- and blanking the identifier (just put “”).
Voila, it works. P.T. able to reach 100% download and it is playable. Turns out, PS4 only care with the PKG URL, file-size, and SHA-1 hash. PS4 does not care with the identifier value, thus you can simply blank it 😀
Full-disclosure:
- The proxy app was “Squid Proxy”. I made an installer and some necessary configs.
- This tutorial is my original work and i will post it on other places to spread the word, but the most comprehensive and detailed guide only available for Wololo community. Because i think you guys/girls will like the nitty gritty 😀

Is simply installing SUWI enough on the PC? No starting a program or activating something?
My ps4 gets an IP address but fails the Internet connection each time. Resettled my internet. No change.
The IP port must be 808 not 8080, then the computer must stay on while downloading pt on your ps4, when it has downloaded always be offline so not to get banned from psn

Did you have it before? Also did you get banned?
I played PT before but deleted it, I have the right account, I even still have a save file on my PS4. I wanted to re-download it now and followed every step of this guide, made sure the PS4 and PC are in the same network, I’m having no connection issues. But PT doesn’t show up in my library. What do I do wrong? I’m from Germany btw if that matters. Does this method work with a EU license or is it US only?

Just did this today and it worked, though it sat at 0% for several minutes before the download bar started moving up. All I can say is double check that the ip address and port number are correct, and be patient.
Is there any risk of getting ban? After downloading i can remove proxy and play normally?

Hey so I have set everything up but I keep getting the error of it cannot download. I have tried downloading and installing suwi multiple times and redid the proxy multiple times. It is showing up on the PlayStation purchased part of the library but not under the “all”. Would that make a difference? Thanks in advance
Ok, how do I remove Suwi/Squid once I’m done using the proxy? There doesn’t seem to be any documentation for that, nor is there a listing in the Windows Applications.

This worked like a charm! Using A mac with an XP VM. For those having issues – check your network settings particularly if you are trying over a VM. Great work
Still works beautifully! Just make sure if you are having problems to turn on network sharing on your adapter so the PS4 can piggyback off your PC.
I am still having trouble getting this to work. I download SUWI, check the IP and set my PS4 to that IP and 808 Port. Then I click on P.T. from my “Downloaded” section on PS4 FW 4.08 and it just keeps taking me back to the “Overview” page with no download option. I enabled network sharing and disabled the firewall. Nothing seems to work for me 🙁
Have you disabled both your Windows firewall and the built-in hardware firewall in your modem/router?
Thanks for the response. I have disabled all firewalls. Hosted the Suwi PC and the PS4 on the same LAN network. Enabled network sharing and tried to enter the network information manually. I DID find that I cannot ping SUWI and if I type in the proxy server on the web browser it says “connection refused” with SUWI on the top left.
I’ve tried this many times now but it just doesn’t work. I’ve turned of Windows defender and the Windows 10 firewall, as well as the firewall in my router. Could it be the router somehow blocking this..? I’d really like to redownload it after I had to format the PS4 HDD!

Does anyone know if this method works if I have an EU psn account with the license and a US region PS4 pro?

When you login to your psn account on a computer, does P.T. show up under “purchased”? If so then this method will work. If it isn’t under your purchased items then you must have used a different account the last time and this method will not work.
Andrew, I strongly think this isn’t for me, pal. I played P.T. on a friend’s PS4, at the time I didn’t even had a PS4 myself, so, no, there’s no record of P.T. on my PS4, cause when I could afford to buy my console, the game wasn’t avaiable anymore.
Ah, gotcha. Yeah man it’s not going to work then. It must be in your purchase history to both download it with the proxy and also to boot it up on the console.
so i was entering my public ip, not my ipv4 address lol, the ipv4 can be found in run > cmd > ipconfig. good luck!
